  1. With the Dodger trade BC opened a lot of holes that need to be filled before 2013. Now starting pitching has been the problem for the Sox since the end of August last season. If the Sox could some how get that true number one pitcher then maybe the Sox SP could be better. 1. True number one 2. Buchholtz (Based on his stron second half) 3. Lester (Need to get the right pitching coach in here) 4. Doubront 5. Lackey (Are stuck with him unless he proves he can pitch and BC moves him) I agree, if a true number one is not found then adding one year SP hoping to find a winner is not going to work. If it is a bridge year then that is probably what the Sox will do as they wait for Webster and Barnes.
  2. Iglesias can't hit. He hasn't hit at any level in the minors. If he could hit at least at Rey Ordonez level you could take a chance with him. Can you win with a SS who is basically an automatic out in your lineup.
  3. How is this thread titled outfield, but since it got on to the subject of AAA I too want to thank the Paw Sox for at least some winning ball this season. They won with many of their players in Boston, but beat Charlotte who also has many of their players in Chicago helping the White Sox in their playoff chase. The rosters were filled in with AA players and speaks well for the Sox.
  4. Young, lefty, has won in Boston before, and is one of our own having come up through the system. I think he still has to be in the Sox plans for the rotation in 2013. Maybe he is not a 1 or a 2, but he is not a 4. If he is a 4 in your rotation then you are going to win a lot of games. If it is true that his decline started in 2011, then maybe Farrell leaving as pitching coach is a lot more important then we realize.
  5. At best he is a 5th OF on major league roster, or dept player at AAA filling for injuries like he did this year. If he is in your starting OF then the Sox are looking at another 2012.
  6. Spoke to soon. What is this guy a three inning starter?
  7. Lester is still throwing the ball as hard, but his location has been terrible. You look at a lot of his starts and its a bad inning that does him in.
  8. Doubront looks pretty good so far. Sox have to limit the $panks runs tonight because they are not scoring a lot with this lineup. What was Aviles swinging at?
  9. This is the first season in a long time that it has been really hard to watch the Sox. I have seen down years before, but this was different. Its hard watching a team that finds so many different ways to lose, and then add on top of that all of the crap that has gone on with this team outside the games and I think that is why its been hard to watch. With that said it would be nice if they found a way to beat the $panks tonight.
  10. If you want power out of the 1B position then Loney is not your guy. He has never hit too many homeruns and from what I've seen so far it doesn't look he would use the Wall to his benefit. The thing is that besides no power this year, he has not hit for average. I think the Sox pass on him. Took him in the trade to have a vet to man first and with him a FA at the end of the year they clear his contract.
  11. $panks can't lose enough as far as I'm concerned. With Pedroia out of the lineup I don't know how the Sox are going to score enough to win. He has been their hottest hitter the past few weeks, and when they have won he has been part of it.
  12. I guess that is one good thing about a season like this, all of the bandwagon fans jump off and are not seen or heard from until the next great season. Its easy being a Sox fan win they are winning, but its the loyal fans that are still here when we go through a 2012.
  13. Dodgers only 6 and 9 since the trade and have dropped two more games behind the Giants. Neither Beckett or A-Gon has been that great. If the Dodgers fail to make the playoffs it makes the trade look all the more better. How many days until pitchers and catchers?
  14. I was watching the end of the O's and $pankee game Sat. night and how Joe G. did not come out to argue the game ending play was a little curious. What happens to him if the $panks don't make the playoffs? I know in the good old days he would have been fired by now. How dare he lose a ten game lead. If I was a $pankee fan I would not be worried about who is managing the Sox, but who is doing a terrible managing job in the Bronx. Maybe he should be _hitcanned!
  15. I agree we need starters to go deeper in the games or the BP will get gassed again and we will have a repeat of 2012. We had too many 5 inning starts and ask too much of the bullpen. We were able to stay a float for awhile, but when the pen started to struggle it was because they were asked to do too much earlier in the season.
  16. The $panks have their own decision on their centerfielder. Grandison is going to want a lot of years at big $$$$. Does he still have the power numbers if the Bronx isn't his home? In my opinium I don't think he is the outfielder that Ellsbury is. With that said I think the Sox are going to go back to the way they did things before. They put a value on a player and don't go above that. The point was made that if he has a 2013 season like he had in 2011 maybe that value they offer might increase. Otherwise, Ellsbury has been a good player, not a great player, thus not worth Crawford $$$$$$.
  17. Amen! All of the hate should be saved for the $pankees. You have to have hope that it will get better or there is no sence of following the Sox. It is all of the down years and bad loses that make 2004 and 2007 all the more enjoyable. You have to keep the faith or find another hobby.
  18. Where I once thought BV would be back next year to get a real shot, now with the total collapse his days in Boston are numbered. It will be one of the first acts for the FO with the rebuild. I just hope that they don't give away to much in trying to get Farrell from the Jays. He too has a losing record in two seasons of managing the Jays.
  19. Until 2004 Sox fans were use to the losing. The 2007 season gave us the feeling that this would happen a lot in the future. Without those two seasons this season would have been that much harder to deal with. It is because of those seasons that most of the nation is willing to wait for the rebuild. Its not that we wouldn't have done so without 2004 and 2007, but those seasons will make this a little easier. Sox fans are who we are!
  20. I don't know how some of the bottom feeder teams' fans do this season after season. There is nothing good about the 2012 Sox season. When do pitchers and catchers report?
  21. You would hope players would be playing for spots on the 2013 roster. If they are still playing hard then this team is worst then I thought. Maybe a last place finish will embarras the FO to rebuild this thing the right way.
  22. Both Morales and Doubrount have hit the wall. Neither one of them has pitched this much in one season. Because they both started out strong and are lefties I wouldn't write them off for 2013. They both just reach a place that nether has been before. If the plan is to have them in the rotation next year then they have to approach the off season that way. It has to be hard on what they asked of Morales this year.
  23. Sox have 6 games left with $panks and it would be great if they could play a small part of knocking them out of the playoffs. It would take a little sting out of this season. The games this weekend are for pride and staying out of last place.
  24. $panks are old and I don't see Papi signing there. They will use the DH spot to rotate their senior citizens. Based on events of the past month I can see the following gone this off season: Aceves (anti-social behavior doesn't play well if Sox are starting youth movement), Cook (Not AL East pitcher unless pitching batting practise), Meliancon (Just gave up another homerun), Aviles, Ellsbury (If he asks for Crawford $$$$$$), Salty (Has become an automatic out), Sweeney, Bard (I think the pressure of Boston is against him), Loney (No power), and Dice-K and his inconsistant pitching).
  25. Crawford wasn't worth Crawford $$$$$. I think the Sox will put a value on Ellsbury and if he ask for more they will trade him. A player doesn't deserve big $$$$$ based on one season. I think they need to put up numbers multiple season to earn $$$$$$$$.
