  1. I don't know how some of the bottom feeder teams' fans do this season after season. There is nothing good about the 2012 Sox season. When do pitchers and catchers report?
  2. You would hope players would be playing for spots on the 2013 roster. If they are still playing hard then this team is worst then I thought. Maybe a last place finish will embarras the FO to rebuild this thing the right way.
  3. Both Morales and Doubrount have hit the wall. Neither one of them has pitched this much in one season. Because they both started out strong and are lefties I wouldn't write them off for 2013. They both just reach a place that nether has been before. If the plan is to have them in the rotation next year then they have to approach the off season that way. It has to be hard on what they asked of Morales this year.
  4. Sox have 6 games left with $panks and it would be great if they could play a small part of knocking them out of the playoffs. It would take a little sting out of this season. The games this weekend are for pride and staying out of last place.
  5. $panks are old and I don't see Papi signing there. They will use the DH spot to rotate their senior citizens. Based on events of the past month I can see the following gone this off season: Aceves (anti-social behavior doesn't play well if Sox are starting youth movement), Cook (Not AL East pitcher unless pitching batting practise), Meliancon (Just gave up another homerun), Aviles, Ellsbury (If he asks for Crawford $$$$$$), Salty (Has become an automatic out), Sweeney, Bard (I think the pressure of Boston is against him), Loney (No power), and Dice-K and his inconsistant pitching).
  6. Crawford wasn't worth Crawford $$$$$. I think the Sox will put a value on Ellsbury and if he ask for more they will trade him. A player doesn't deserve big $$$$$ based on one season. I think they need to put up numbers multiple season to earn $$$$$$$$.
  7. Farrell has one year on his contract and the Sox would have to give the Jays something to get him next year. I think the Jays are the team that claimed De La Rosa causing the Sox and Dodgers maling him a player to be named later. If the Jays ask for him would they do that?
  8. Even players that the nation are talking about targeting are now getting injuried. McCarthy taking a liner and needing surgury would take him off the list of possible off season targets. Something like that could end the guys career. Is it me or are we seeing more guys get hit by liners?
  9. The numbers are just part of it when looking for players. Players who have the numbers that fit into what Sox want to do also have to have that makeup that allows then to play in Boston. Crawford is a great example of this. Had good numbers, but was not made to play in Boston and the more he struggled the more he pressed.
  10. If Bogaerts shows he can play SS at AAA next year, then Iglesias will not be the future at SS. You will probably see him in Boston in 2014. If next year is a bridge year then they give Bogaerts the year at AAA.
  11. The media doesn't like BV and they are destroying him with the negative press. The more he trashes them the worse it will get. They want to be proven right that BV was not the right choice to follow Tito. I think the FO is being pushed into a corner, if they bring BV back then the press will target them. You have already started to here this after they failed to can BV when they went out to Seattle.
  12. I think the dumping of Crawford contract was saying that Crawford wasn't worth the $$$$$$. I think the Sox will go back to putting a worth on a player and if that player wants more they will trade him or let him walk. I don't think it will be the years that the Red Sox have a problem with in what Boros will ask for, I think it will be how much $$$$ per year he wants for Ellsbury. Sox could offer 5 years at 15 million and if Ellsbury wants to play in Boston he should take that. If he ask for more $$$$ the Sox will trade him some time before next July's trading deadline.
  13. I agree that they have to get back to the offensive approach of driving up the pitch counts on enemy pitchers. The quicker the Sox get into the bullpen the more success they will have. That is the way to consistently beat the good pitchers. As this season went along the Sox started to make to many easy outs instead of hard outs. The productive 5 and 6 pitch outs allows you to get to the pen quicker. Hopefully, they have seen the error of their ways building this 2012 and get back to what got them success in 2004 and 2007. When do pitchers and catchers report?
  14. True Sox fans are already looking forward to next season. I have seen the World Series loss in 1975, the loss to $panks in 1978, the loss to Mets in 1986 (Buckner play haunted me until 2004), the few playoff losses in the 90s, and the 2003 loss to the $panks. It made 2004 so much sweeter. The air smelled cleaner, the water tasted better, as did the food. 2007 was icing on the cake. I think we got spoiled and the FO got off track. Keep the faith and we can only go up from here. When do pitchers and catchers report?
  15. I agree with bringing in players that will help rebuild the winning attitude. The Sox have the added burden of also finding players that want the challenge of playing in Boston. We have seen good players come to Boston and not be able to take the heat. Pedroia is the kind of piece that is needed to help the rebuild. He has produced in Boston and will help rebuild that winning attitude.
  16. The good thing about the events since last September is that this team has hit rock bottom. The Sox can only get better. Two positive that they have are that they were able to get rid of their three largest contracts and they have the financial means to help with the rebuild. They need to set a smart plan for the rebuild and stick to it. I believe to have long term success you minor league system has to be turning out 3 or 4 major league ready players a year. You then use $$$$$ wisely to fill in the holes. You remember a few years back they would set values on players and if those players wanted more they would let them walk. They have to get back to that. I think Ellsbury will be the first test case. He has been a good player when healthy, but throw out 2011 and that is what he has been, a good player. If Boros ask for the moon and the moon is above what the Sox think he is worth then trade him. The paying guys above their value is what caused the waste of $$$$$$.
  17. Wouldn't it be great if the mighty $pankees had their own September collapse? For the rest of the 2012 season I will root for who ever is playing the $panks.
  18. When do pitchers and catchers report?
  19. The starting pitching problem can not be fixed until the off season. If you are using the rest of the season to see what the young guys can do, then do it. Most of the season the starting pitching has been a mess and I think everyone agrees with that. If we are going to lose we might as well lose by looking at the future (Iglesias if he has one) not Aviles who will not be the future SS. He is what we would call a bridge SS. If Iglesias doesn't get the reps at SS you still don't know what you have. Everyone knows it was the starting pitching that ruin 2012. You still have to field everyday players next season so avaluate what you have.
  20. Anyone the Sox think can help them in 2013 should get a look. Allow these guys to get past that first time in the show gitters. If the Sox plan is to build around the youth then that is what I would do.
  21. Its been awhile since the baseball season has ended so early. Its hard to believe that in August of 2011 the Sox were one of the better teams in baseball. Thats a long fall in a short period of time. When you see some of the good teams play now it makes you wonder how long is it going to take to rebuild this thing. The Sox are a big part of summers, but not versions like the 2012 Sox.
  22. We are losing now with Aviles at SS and he is not the future, we might well see if Iglesias has anything at all. Playing him one game and sitting him the next is not doing anyone any good. Need to continue evaluating for 2013 because 2012 was done weeks ago. When do pitchers and catchers report?
  23. Good lefty starters are hard to come by. Both Morales (Now on DL) and Doubrount have hit the wall. The way they baby these pitchers in the minors it takes them 3 or 4 seasons in the majors to where they get to 200 innings in a season. Doubrount also had injuries when in the minors which adds to his slow development toward 200 innings. Based on the out look for next season I think both are in rotation.
  24. Doubrount is spent, he has reached his innings and is just not effective anymore. Shut him down. I love Sctty Pods and what he has given us this year with the injuries, but with him in the 3 hole this lineup looks like a AAA lineup. I think Aceves is done in Boston. Most people didn't think anything of it when he had his blow up with BV, but now a blow up with a teammate. Is this him being bigger then the team, or AA being AA. When do pitchers and catchers report.
  25. Embarrassing!!!!!!!!! Just when you thought it couldn't get any worse.
