    Mortensen must be lonely down in the bullpen. I think he is the only one left down there. If this goes to long some position player is going to have to pitch batting practice to the Royals.

    Just got in, and the last I heard the score was 9-3. I think some of these guys in the pen are gased. Who blew up tonight?

    The $pankees have more commited next year for the left side of the infield then the Sox do right now for the whole team. I'm sure if you look at commitments in salaries for next year right now the Sox are in the bottom third in the league.

    The Boston market will eat Greinke up. No proven track record in a large market. From what I've seen so far his numbers are not that great since the trade. Are you going to give a huge contract to someone that we don't know if he could survive the pressure of playing in Boston? Didn't we just trade someone (CC) that the same thing was said about him. I don't know what Shield's status is, but he at least has proven he can pitch in AL East. Who is the last major FA that has had a lot of success after signing a big contract in Boston? Is it Manny (Before he realized Manny being Manny was getting old and he wasn't getting away with sh__)?

    BV gets another year, but on a short leash. Based on what is taking place with the trades it looks like they are going to give him a real chance. Whether you like him or not, with all of the injuries and turmoil he was able to keep them a float until August. Didn't have the set lineup one game all season, Lester and Beckett terrible most of the season, and he had to come up with a bullpen after losing his closer in the spring.

    There was talk about him playing some outfield this winter. He would make a great super utility guy in 2013. He makes something happen every game he is in. Can't teach speed!

    A couple thoughts on last night's game: 1. If the Angels find a way to make the playoffs and win the WS, the Sox should get WS shares 2. New stat for the Sox: come back loses (last night is what one looks like) 3. When is the last time the Sox won at home, I'm starting to forget the lyrics to Dirty Water When do pitchers and catchers report?

    Wilson hasn't won a game in his last ten starts, gives up 6 runs in the second, and still has a chance to be the winning pitcher. Good thing I don't live by any bridges.

    I could walk guys like that, and I would do it for a lot less money. The Sox takith, but givith right back. That was quick, there for a minute I thought someone took the 2012 Sox and replaced them with the 2007 version. I was wrong!

    The sad thing about it is that if Middlebrooks didn't get hurt Ciriaco probably is playing with PawSox and wouldn't see the show again until September.

    I like watching Ciriaco play. Nice way to start the DP. I hope they keep Punto locked in the closet the rest of 2012. Ciriaco does something good every game he is in there and deserves the PT.

    Never thought of it that way (66-85 since last September), but now I know what it feels like to be an Astros fan. The only difference is the Astros payroll isn't 180 million.

    I'm a diehard so I still had a little hope going into the Angels series, but stick a fork into the 2012 Sox because they are done. How many days till pitchers and catchers? (Computer acting up didn't think first response took, sorry)

    That is why you root for the name on the front of the jersey and not the one on the back. Very few players play their whole career in one city any more. They change teams like we change our underwear. If a favorite player of mind ends up on another team I end up not rooting for them, and if they end up on the $pankees they are dead to me. Being a Red Sox fan builds character because nothing is easy.

    Williams - Yaz - Rice were the great hall of fame starting left fielder for the Sox from 1939 to the late 1980s. When you saw the Sox you knew who was going to be in left (Minus the war years).

    If Bobby comes back on a short leash, then any of the coaches that are not talking to him need to be shown the door. They know who they are. A manager has to be able to pick his own coaches.

    Scioscia signed a ten year contract in 2009 so he is not going anywhere. The Angel's owner also came out and made such a statement when this rumor started. So cross Scioscia off of any list you have for future Red Sox managers. I think Bobby is back in 2013, but on a short leash.

    The $pankees had to know something was up with Colon. I thought it was a little strange when in the off season they resigned F. Garcia over him. Some of these guys are looking to extend their careers any way they can. If I was a guy who was clean and didn't make a team because of one of these suspended guys I would be pissed.

    I second the motion on the statue honoring Yaz. Good call Spitball. When you think of the storied history of the Red Sox the first two names that come to mind are Williams and Yaz.

    To paraphase a line from the movie Fever Pitch that I think says it best, you can love the Sox and sometimes they don't love you back. Fenway is the place that is the center of the baseball world. Glad you enjoyed the pilgrimage.

    Yaz is the reason I became a Sox fan. He still is the best I have seen at playing the Monster. He had it down to a science. Happy b-day Yaz!
