Good point. The need for starters to consistently go deep into games also is key for a good bullpen. We have seen what happens to a bullpen that is over used early in the season.
Between last season and this season Middlebrooks seems to have a hard time staying healthy. I hope when he returns from his current problem he can stay on the field. Even with a low batting average he still is a threat to go deep on any pitch.
Good bullpens are ones where every member has a role and everyone fills their role effectively. When both Hanrahan and Bailey were hurt the pen struggled because everyone was move from their more effective roles. Tazawa in his first save chance blew it giving up a HR. Your bullpen is only as good as your weak parts.
We need a power bat that can play the corner OF. Gomes isn't getting it done, Nava's weaknesses get exposed the more he plays full time, and Victorina can't seem to stay healthy.
I don't know how you can't play Iggy while he is hot. If he is the future SS then let him play and ride this hot streak. When he is hitting like this he is a better player then Drew because he ups the D as well.
Its still early. Lets see where he is at in July at mid-season. If he is still giving us quality starts then maybe the Sox could be in this for the long haul.
Why can't those hard hit balls find a hole somewhere. I have zero confidence that we can get back in this game. It seems like the Sox are down more then two runs.
Three hits tonight. Two coming in the first inning. One assisted by third base. We got to start taking better swings or its three in a row. The way the Sox are hitting Lester can pitch a great game tomorrow and we still lose with Price going for the Rays.
