  1. I knew it, Murph shut the Sox out of scoring in the 8th and stopped their run of having at least a run every inning.
  2. Murph got Carp looking at a called third strike. An Carp just got the boot.
  3. Murph pitching for the Rangers now. Watch him throw a zero up there and stop every inning scoring for the Sox.
  4. I think there is some unwritten rule somewhere that says the $panks have to make the playoffs every season and the rest of baseball has to do everything in their powers to make this happen.
  5. There were a lot of people that wanted him here. Don't know why? Someone tell Mortenson that you need three outs.
  6. I heard she doesn't.
  7. This is a huge offensive output with three starters (Ellsbury, Victorino and Middlebrooks) not in the lineup.
  8. Unless its Lee, I can't see the Sox dealing for a big time pitcher unless they are crushed with injuries.
  9. The warm weather seems to be waking up the Sox bats. They got a ton of hits Saturday against the $panks and have crushed the ball tonight.
  10. Dempster has pitched better then his record has shown. The Sox have been beating up rookie pitchers this year and the run support was great for Dempster.
  11. I think Bradley and Ciriaco go back to PawSox. Both need ABs to stay ready when needed.
  12. If the Sox are going anywhere this season they need production out of Lackey. I think Buchholtz and Lester are in it for the long haul (Barring injuries), but the Sox need consistant pitching from the rest of the rotation including Lackey.
  13. Probably the reason his HR numbers are where they are at. The Muddy Chicken continues to amaze.
  14. With the second wild card more and more teams are in the playoff race a lot longer and the ability to get a difference making starting pitcher at the trade deadline becomes harder and harder.
  15. Don't know who the player will be, but the Sox don't have a number 7 pick that often so they need to get it right. It has to be someone that is a can't miss player.
  16. I still think that the lack of power numbers in the outfield is a problem. Gomes was suppose to be a right handed platoon player that could give the lineup some power. If the power outage is still happening at the trade deadline I can see the Sox try to get a power hitting right handed outfielder. If Brentz looks like he could be the guy that would be great. Unless there are injuries I don't see any major moves for the pitching staff.
  17. Based on what they did last off season I don't see them investing big dollars on any one player. For that reason Ellsbury will walk. The Sox will look for young players to show that they are ready and continue to fill any gaps with mid-range FA players like the Victorina and Napoli signings.
  18. If the Sox were 20 - 30 instead of 30 - 20 would we still be saying that Gomes should be afforded more time to get his sh%# together?
  19. Iggy needs to play. He is better at SS then Drew for the Sox if he only hits .250 because of the steller D. If you say Drew is a better hitter then Iggy and that is why he should play then you lose that argument because Drew himself is not hitting. If your argument to play Drew is about what the Sox are paying him then are you fielding the team that gives you the best chance to win?
  20. I am agreeing with you that Nava is better over the course of the long season as a platoon player. My point was that you can't look at what he has done so far and project that he will be able to produce at that level for the whole year if he is consistenly playing against both righties and lefties. It is Gomes lack of production and Victorina injury problems that I orginally stated a need for a right handed power bat that can play the corner OF was a need.
  21. Or nice young arms for next year and beyond.
  22. I am not really counting on getting anything from him this year in Boston any way. Let him get his act together and maybe a September call up would be in order. The Sox would like to see him succeed as a starter, but would move him to the pen as another power arm if the whole starting thing doesn't work out.
  23. As a 4th OF against lefty pitchers he is not the problem. If he plays every day against both righties and lefties then he is not the solution. If Gomes hit more HRs this year then the two make a great platoon which I think benefits both players over the course of the long season.
  24. Talk about a bad break for this guy.
  25. Bailey needs to stay healthy, because when he has been healthy this year he has pitched well. The Sox bullpen success depends on Bailey being able to effectively close for them.
