  1. Dirty Water time! Nice start to an important series considering how quickly the Jays made up a lot of games in the standing in a short period of time. If the Jays had come in and run the table they would be within striking distance.
  2. Mortensen is the Sox middle inning eater and its a crap shot with him.
  3. As hot as the Jays are you have to take this outing by Lester as a positive in the right direction.
  4. It got to the point that Bailey was afraid to throw strikes. Closers that walk a lot of people are not going to be successful. If Bailey isn't hurt then he may not be able to close in the bright lights of Boston. If that is the case then he will probably have to be moved. Now if he is hurt (or hasn't got his zip on the fastball back) then maybe you hang on to him in the hope that he figures it out. The Sox aren't going anywhere if their bullpen fails them.
  5. He needs to make the adjustment that the pitchers have made to him. The guy has the power, but he needs a lot of ABs at AAA to get it right. If the Sox weren't in first they probably would have given him more time to get it right in Boston. What will the Sox do if Iggy reverts back to his prior self? Will they go out and get a 3B?
  6. Based on where the Sox sit at the half way point you have to save most of the moves made by B.C. this past off season have turned out pretty well. Remember many thought this was going to be a bridge year for the Sox until the youth was ready to take over.
  7. Pirates have the second best record in baseball and their bullpen has been lights out. They will not trade Melancon, and based on his track record in NY and Boston he does not like the bright lights.
  8. He was the youngest position player at AA, and his promotion to AAA makes him the youngest position player there. Could we see him in Boston next year?
  9. I hope they can get it in because the Sox already have a double header scheduled Tuesday wth the Rays. Multiple double headers in a short period of time can blow up a pen. Hopefully the 7 to 10 window is there and they get this game in.
  10. The Sox signings this off season has set the Sox up to start transitioning some of their young guns to the big leagues. Whether it is later this summer or next season you will see Bogaerts, Bradley (again) and some of their young pitchers.
  11. Remember it was the September collapse in 2011 that left a bad taste in Sox fans mouths. This team has a better feel about it though. I think you have a better mix of guys that all have winning backgrounds so the chemistry is much better then in 2011. This team has been fun to watch. I think if they come up short and don't make the post season it will be because of some critical injury or two.
  12. Unless he is hurt I can see Lester returning to the way he was pitching in the beginning of the season. If they can't get Lester straightened out then this team isn't going anywhere this season any way. When right he is one of the best lefties in the league. Can't see the Sox trading a home grown lefty that has to be right for the Sox to win anything this season.
  13. All of the teams in the AL East have flaws. It will come down to who can stay healthy and make key pickups at the trade deadline. So far the Sox have played well against division foes and that is a huge plus because of the schedule and the amount of games played within the division. Having four very above .500 teams in the division may hurt wild card chances though as these four teams beat up on each other.
  14. All of the youthful talent means that the Sox will be competitive moving forward the next few years. If you that much youth you can some of those pieces to get parts that you don't have. Plus it is not as expensive. The Sox can win long term by using players from their system.
  15. I agree with both of your points. Napoli struck out four times today and giving him days off to play Carp at first is an option the Sox should do.
  16. If Iggy is hitting he has to be your SS moving forward. The D he gives you at that position will save numerous runs for the pitching staff. His ability with the glove will make him one of the best fielding SS in baseball. I keep seeing Bogaerts being moved (3B, 1B or OF). Middlebrooks is either your 3B or 1B of the future. Remember both Drew and Napoli are on one year contracts and I believe nether will be back next year. The pieces are all there it is just a matter where each piece plays.
  17. I think Nava has surprised everyone. No one could have predicted this from him. With that said the Sox using all of their players is a plus for them. Gomes is starting to hit a little bit and to not play him against lefties would be wrong. Carp is hitting the ball as well and has earned more ABs. It is this production from second tier players that will get the Sox where they want to be.
  18. I agree. Watching the Angels play the Sox today and the lack of production from Pujols and Hamilton, and their big contracts will hurt them moving forward. Don't want to see the Sox get hosed by one of these big contracts from a player who has question marks surrounding them.
  19. Nights like this make you forget about all the sh*^ that we had to watch last year. The Sox are at a high water mark of 13 games over .500. Good night Nation.
  20. I knew it, Murph shut the Sox out of scoring in the 8th and stopped their run of having at least a run every inning.
  21. Murph got Carp looking at a called third strike. An Carp just got the boot.
  22. Murph pitching for the Rangers now. Watch him throw a zero up there and stop every inning scoring for the Sox.
  23. I think there is some unwritten rule somewhere that says the $panks have to make the playoffs every season and the rest of baseball has to do everything in their powers to make this happen.
  24. There were a lot of people that wanted him here. Don't know why? Someone tell Mortenson that you need three outs.
  25. I heard she doesn't.
