  1. As close as he is to X, this would not be a surprise to me at all. Losing the clubhouse is a distinct possibility as well. This isn't strat-o-matic baseball where overall attitude doesn't have to be considered. I will always be a fan of the team but likely not management the way things have gone for awhile now.
  2. there is an old saying - fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me. It is really quite difficult for me to imagine how anyone can expect the Red Sox to all of a sudden come to their senses and actually sign a wonderfully talented home grown talent. They might even peddle the same old garbage about doing everything they can do to sign him. I'm not buying that line again. the way Bloom has played things, the best thing that he could do would be to trade him at some point.
  3. I'm with you. It makes me sad and no amount of winning is going to make me a fan of this crap.
  4. I think that the approach of the franchise has definitely changed. I won't be putting any money on the comments that come out of the mouths of any of them. If they do not trade Devers, with the type of approach that it appears they have then they are fools basically. And personally if I actually listen to anything that they are saying about what they are trying to do contract wise, then I am a fool.
  5. Wow is all i got. the face of the franchise is gone. That sucks and for all that he gave to this team on and off the field, he will be sorely missed. Best of look to him. A class act who should still be in a Red Sox uniform.
  6. So, is this the way of the future for the fans. You get as much as you can out of home grown talents and if they happen to be very very good, you trade them for fear of them not being able to perform for the remainder of any new contract unless of course they take the discount offered by management? I don't think that it is unusual for people to be upset by this. This I think would be a huge change with respect to the way the Sox have operated. There are some players you just don't let get away.
  7. Numerous times we have heard from Red Sox management that the signing of Bogaerts was a very very high priority. I think going forward, if he signs with anyone else for a number that the Red Sox could have matched if they had chosen to, then in the future they just should say nothing to us about their goals. It is a crappy way to do business and they will stand the chance of alienating even more of their fan base.
  8. So if he goes somewhere else at a price that the Red Sox could certainly have afforded they were right about the market I guess but they had no intention of signing him in the first place. In the eyes of many, that would make the Red Sox wrong.
  9. I doubt that they will be upgrading if he leaves and personally yup I think that they should be blamed.
  10. It is a chance that every team has to take on occasion. it is kind of like timing the market. Now if Bogaerts is allowed to get away because of the money he is asking for and the Red Sox still mange to somehow upgrade this team in general, then maybe it's good. I
  11. Personally I consider Peter Gammons to be a very reliable source!
  12. I hope that you are wrong. have to wait and see what unfolds I guess. And like I said I won't officially join Bashers Anonymous until we do find out what becomes of Bogey.
  13. Well if this is the case, I'm willing to wait for the whole story to come out before I enter in on the discussion. I can say though that if Boston did not make an honest attempt to sign him, I will not be selective with my "Bashing". I'll bash them all. I also will consider it pathetic of them if they resort to the free agent market to replace him.
  14. You are right for sure. Now Bloom might be doing a decent job bringing people in that can at least play a little. I think that part of my problem has been that I have listened to the people claiming how much he has built up the farm. I agree that he has but until he pulls off some big time trades with all of this very average talent that he has brought in, I'm going to remain very skeptical with respect to the job that he has done, is doing, and will do. Of course he gets high grades for adding players to the program. I wish that they were better players.
  15. My God - We now have two of them waxing prolifically in an attempt to baffle us with the ******** I think. I cannot read that much without a bit of a nodoff. when people go on and on about what Bloom has done with the farm, I would say what has he done? Anyone would have drafted Mayer. As for most of the rest- AAAA at best. I know I know - he doesn't have the money! It is possible that he just can't get it done.
  16. yup I get it. Like I have said before, this is a year that I think bloom has to do something to really help the club.
  17. Do any of us really know for sure about any budgetary restraints that the Red Sox have?
  18. Personally these little nothing moves don't bother me at all. Though I am reluctant to stick a feather in Bloom's cap just yet for making them. Also like many here, I have and will never will complain about how much the Sox spend in free agency. I guess my concern so far is that I haven't seen much out of bloom to date that gives me any confidence that next year's team will be much different than this years. this is not a complaint at all - just a simply stated feeling. I hope that I'm wrong.
  19. It seems like just the other day a few moves were made around this time of year that pushed the Sox over the top. To date - nothing 0. You would think that some kind of real move will have to be made that actually will help the team. I liked us more when we had a lot of good players.
  20. I loved those old Phillies teams. I've always tolerated your jokes.
  21. There is absolutely no question in my mind that Dave Dombrowski is one of the best GMs to be involved in the business. No one knows what his profile is. My guess is that if someone told him to build the best farm system or whatever, he could and would have done it. Maybe Bloom will become that guy but I doubt seriously that anything he does or accomplishes will come close to matching what DD has done. Pretty sure that he has done what he has been asked to do.
  22. Hey while you and notin converse in a foreign language can you answer this question simply - Is Gallo still any good?
  23. i really hope no one but the very close members of Bloom's circle would disagree with what you have said. Regardless though, Bloom gets his chance to eat at the adult table.
  24. I kind of like the Wyc Grousbek(sp) approach to winning. He is willing to pay whatever it takes luxury tax be damned. These billionaires likely aren't too worried about any monthly bills the likes of which most of us have to budget for. I disagree obviously with those of you who try to justify the rationale behind how much JH has spent and how much he plans to spend. Now what I will say is that I do wonder if Bloom had the blank check could he get the job done? I'm just not convinced that he could. He very well might be doing just what JH wants him to do. Nice right-not. He has moved over to the adult table by coming to Boston. Lets see how he likes it going forward. I'm hoping that he can do it.
