  1. yup I get it. Like I have said before, this is a year that I think bloom has to do something to really help the club.
  2. Do any of us really know for sure about any budgetary restraints that the Red Sox have?
  3. Personally these little nothing moves don't bother me at all. Though I am reluctant to stick a feather in Bloom's cap just yet for making them. Also like many here, I have and will never will complain about how much the Sox spend in free agency. I guess my concern so far is that I haven't seen much out of bloom to date that gives me any confidence that next year's team will be much different than this years. this is not a complaint at all - just a simply stated feeling. I hope that I'm wrong.
  4. It seems like just the other day a few moves were made around this time of year that pushed the Sox over the top. To date - nothing 0. You would think that some kind of real move will have to be made that actually will help the team. I liked us more when we had a lot of good players.
  5. I loved those old Phillies teams. I've always tolerated your jokes.
  6. There is absolutely no question in my mind that Dave Dombrowski is one of the best GMs to be involved in the business. No one knows what his profile is. My guess is that if someone told him to build the best farm system or whatever, he could and would have done it. Maybe Bloom will become that guy but I doubt seriously that anything he does or accomplishes will come close to matching what DD has done. Pretty sure that he has done what he has been asked to do.
  7. Hey while you and notin converse in a foreign language can you answer this question simply - Is Gallo still any good?
  8. i really hope no one but the very close members of Bloom's circle would disagree with what you have said. Regardless though, Bloom gets his chance to eat at the adult table.
  9. I kind of like the Wyc Grousbek(sp) approach to winning. He is willing to pay whatever it takes luxury tax be damned. These billionaires likely aren't too worried about any monthly bills the likes of which most of us have to budget for. I disagree obviously with those of you who try to justify the rationale behind how much JH has spent and how much he plans to spend. Now what I will say is that I do wonder if Bloom had the blank check could he get the job done? I'm just not convinced that he could. He very well might be doing just what JH wants him to do. Nice right-not. He has moved over to the adult table by coming to Boston. Lets see how he likes it going forward. I'm hoping that he can do it.
  10. Is this Ricky Henderson or mvp?
  11. really - two knuckle heads - tolerable but still knuckle heads lol
  12. I would not trade Mayer
  13. I do believe that he has limits. You can obviously see what a ruckus it causes here every time I say that he has no budgetary limits. Only a complete moron would think that he doesn't. why do you think I say it? I will add though that people who think that they might know or even suggest what his limits might be are no different than the people who think that he can afford the world. Their opinions are no better nor are they worse than any others. You stated everything properly!
  14. Well for the record boys i do and did know what a strawman argument is. It is an expression that is used so frequently that I don't use it. As for the word decimate with respect to what numerous posters on here have said, I don't feel the need to look back to specifically name them. DD did not decimate anything when the word is used to connote what I think it is meant to connote here. If someone wants to think that he just wiped us out with respect to our fresh young talent by trading a bunch of really average players for the most part, it is their prerogative. i choose to not believe that at all. I'm willing of course to give Bloom more time well knowing that my opinion much like most of yours means 0. I also absolutely believe that he has a long way to go to even be comparable in terms of accomplishments to the man he replaced. Remember though also, I agree with very few of you when you start gong on about how much money JH is and will be willing to spend to keep the franchise moving.
  15. Are you going to splurge on the 10 dollar seats or what? I only got there once this year - it was a treat. If I lived closer to Portland, I would be a seasons ticket holder.
  16. You folks do know that this was just my weak attempt at humor right?
  17. Has this been documented? who said such a thing and why? Do you have any written proof that it's the fans that have screwed this up? If you do then I say fire the fans. No one should be allowed in to Fenway Park without first signing a note saying that they forever support all decisions of the front office. As a token show of friendship the Red Sox will offer no one a contract for longer than two years as well as never signing a player who has reached the age of 30. All trades must be approved by the small group of loyal fans who are allowed in to the ball park.
  18. I do not actually know what is meant by straw man? Do you think that the people on this forum who actually used the word decimated have finally come around or what? I sure hope so.
  19. plus I was trying to provide another line of communication that didn't involve him fighting with red. lol
  20. I don't disagree with much of what you say here notin. It is the method that I question. it is possible that we could have kept all of those guys and remained average for a long long time too. Sometimes I guess it can be risky to take big leaps but many times it is worth it. What's a guy to do? We are likely to find out soon what kind of leadership we can expect from Bloom.
  21. and you are so right. If you were where I am I'd buy you a beer or two or 18. Rational thought is just not acceptable. We'd have a good time even though chronologically I'm a bit older than you.
  22. Just checking here but hope you know that I'm one of the guys who thinks that even the thought that DD might have decimated the farm is a bunch of ********.
  23. From my perspective, your post works perfectly. I agree. I spend a little too much time on the fringes with respect to many of these arguments here. It is for sure something to do. I do tend to get hot and bothered when some claim that they have a clue as to what any plan might be. If someone was to interview for the position of GM for the Boston Red Sox and was asked as to what their plan might be and the response was to build up the farm over the next 4 to 7 years so that the franchise would be successful moving forward and the next person simply said to win, I think that it is highly likely that if you want to survive financially you go with candidate B. I realize that nothing really is that simple.
  24. Our farm system was a long way from being decimated for sure. Anytime any trade is made someone could claim that the farm was for sure weakened. Trades get made some are bigger deals than others. The ones that DD made were for the most part excellent and made our team better. We look at a lot of things from a hindsight perspective here. I do as well but constantly whining about everything bad that Dave Dombrowski did is as ridiculous as making it sound as though Chaim Bloom is an incredible farm builder. Jury is still out. I hope that he is. I guess adding people to the rosters is a good thing in the long run. But on the other hand whining about things sometimes is just a good outlet for a fan who doesn't have much to look forward to unless they are willing to wait 4-7 years right. lol Bloom is the guy in charge and I think deserves to be supported at least for now.
