  1. I don't think that anybody is all that concerned about where Dalbec is playing. Just something to talk about.
  2. If there wasn't an obvious past tendency for this team to put players in positions that would make many of them seem like utility players, I guess that I would be ok with some experimenting. I think putting a player like Dalbec in a position that he likely will never play during the actual season isn't going to affect him or them much. I think that it is a waste of time and they have done it too many times with other players. It worries me - I don't like it.
  3. I think that we all probably have some type of flaw. Well maybe I wrong about that but I don't disagree with you about what you have said but their flaws I guessing were and probably are distinctly different. Sale cut some ridiculous uniforms and destroyed a water cooler. My guess is that he is a big fan favorite. He is a competitor with a c that should be capitalized.
  4. What does this even mean? I think that it is pretty obvious how I feel about whether or not players actually produce relative to the contracts that they are signed to. It is about as arbitrary as anything could possibly be. If signing the best there is means spending some of a billionaires dollars, for the umpteenth time - bothers me not at all. Now - if I really felt that Bloom had a magic wand that allowed him to use the money at his disposal in a way that really made him stand out as exceptional, perhaps I would feel differently. I don't think that he stands out at all. He has the job and that's it. Our front office has allowed some of the best to leave. I am thrilled that Sale continues to be in a Red sox uniform and I will be whether he lasts the season or not. As a fan, I like being able to identify in a small way with the best there is. It makes me want to watch them.
  5. I've read all that has been written about Sale's contract situation and whether or not people feel that the money spent and is being spent was worth it. Obviously I don't care. It is henry's money and I am glad that Sale is in a Red Sox uniform. Now for all of those whining about what a poor re-up sign it was and how that money could have been used more wisely - with bloom leading the way and looking what he has done to date, how could anyone suggest that that money might have been used in a more productive manner? We are damned lucky to have Chris Sale on our roster.
  6. I'm just thrilled that he is still with us. Quick question - How many of these game changing athletes ever are really worth the money in the long run? Winning teams for the most part accept that. Our potential pitching staff going in to this season, would look a little sad without Chris Sale leading the way. Too much bitching about the past for me.
  7. Sale has had a ton of doubters here on this site. Almost everyone was pissed when he was resigned - not me. I saw it partially as a rewind of looks like ard for being one of the best the game has seen when we needed it most. I will continue to support him as we move along. Just remember doubters when he is throwing up the 0's this year that you never sign a pitcher to a contract like that when they top the age of 30. lol . I hope that it works out for him this year. If it doesn't I'm ok with that as well. In my recent time I have seen Clemens, Martinez, and Sale. I feel privileged. Kind of looks like he has a little chip on his shoulder as well. I think that he truly feels that he owes us all something. Sit back and enjoy having the ace back on the hill. Oh and by the way who did we trade to get him? lol Just kidding - pretty sure that I know.
  8. Connor Wong is hitting? lol
  9. I realize all of the Chris Sale frustration here so I'll just say that I'm likely the only one here who wanted him resigned. My feelings about that have not changed. Hopefully he stays healthy. He is one of the reasons that I will actually watch this team.
  10. notin - really - you know you want my approval.
  11. Or just maybe DD will do what is best for his team since he is a general manager on a HOF career. You continue to be all over him. Not sure. Time to let it go.
  12. My mistake for which I apologize. I thought that in many of your posts you at least suggested that DD had depleted the farm.
  13. I do agree with you here.
  14. I don't agree with you here at all. I only comment about DD when either you or notin express your feelings with respect to what you feel it is that he did to our farm system. You do a very good job of justifying how you feel i'll admit but it still remains your opinion. Some of us do not believe that it was as devastating as you both want to make out that it was. Some of us really do believe that it wasn't depleted of all talent when he left and some of us believe that he used it the way it should be used. I am very much over this controversy now though. Your feud with Red causes this topic to continually be brought up. Hey, I'm a long leash kind of guy but I do wish that DD was still here.
  15. Ok Bell - I give him credit for those two moves. I'll add though that I could have made those two. they were not signs of great genius.
  16. Even the hint that Bloom is in the same category as Dombrowski at this point in his career is a joke. There is virtually no comparison. Liking or disliking DD's moves makes no difference. One has climbed to the top on more than one occasion, the other not so much. it really shouldn't even be debatable which of the two has accomplished more. Bloom has and has had the job now for awhile and hopefully we'll see some positive gains soon. He has had enough time. I just find the majority of his moves to be kind of blah almost as if he just wants to get rid of any player with ties to past leadership. I really doubt that Devers would have been signed if not for immense public pressure. Someone mentioned the signing of Mayer to be a great sign as if it was unexpected - really? i think that he kind of stood out. Simply adding depth to our minor league system isn't enough to excite me. I hope that whatever he is doing works going forward.
  17. Hmm - Can't speak to this on a personal from experience standpoint. Never shoed a cow either nor do I have much knowledge of fingernail piercing. Is that really a thing? Actually is shoeing a cow a thing? Long winter huh.
  18. Hey I'm all in on this guy. I'm Scottish and come from a long line of blacksmiths. Once again, a great move.
  19. hmm mentioning Duran on the same page with Clemente? I'm still just 71 for a few more days. Maybe there is hope for me yet.lol
  20. Exactly - be up front. That would be all that I need.
  21. I don't disagree with you here but what it also means is that everything you have suggested about their "plan" is also pure speculation regardless of the way that you see things. Now I'm not saying that your speculations about the plan going forward are wrong. What I am saying is that if your speculations are accurate then they truly have been giving us a line of crap about resigning either bogaerts or most others for that matter. i realize that this is also speculation. From a media perspective, they would show a lot more intelligence I think if they just shut their mouths and moved forward.
  22. This pretty more sums up how I look at things. Personally i could care less about speculating about what may be their plan moving forward. I would like them to be up front and honest with the loyal fans who have filled the seats for years.
  23. Once again, i'm not buying in to the Red Sox budget concepts so much but for those that do, I think the long term contracts can be terribly restrictive on budget flexibility. Although, if you plan to run with the big boys sometimes you have to act like them. The Sox are one of the big boys.
  24. I think that the term budget in this case is extremely relative. If your concepts of budget and plan are accurate, what does that say about every piece of information that has been published by the front office? Once again my opinion is that allowing potentially HOF talent to leave because of the "budget" when talking about a franchise this valuable is pathetic.
  25. This i agree with so much. Obviously the concept of spending what ever it takes does in fact have some significance to some big market teams. I have said for years that thinking that teams like the Red Sox actually have a budget is ridiculous. Of course teams have budgets but evidently they can be expanded on at any time. Allowing top of the food chain homegrown talent to walk when your budget is just as budget less as any other big market teams is a shame. I have no clue any more than anyone else does here what the "plan" is going forward but to date I find what they have done to be sadly pathetic.
