  1. Wow - if I didn't know better I would obviously think that old Red got you boys again. He makes a comment about Devers and regardless of how you feel about him you go into attack mode for what 3 pages. I'm going with a gotcha moment and he gotcha. First of all I think that Turner and Devers both play for the same team at least for the time being. This would be akin to anyone mentioning DD's name on here just to watch the two maybe three of you squirm and pontificate about how he destroyed our franchise. For the record, i'm a Devers fan and I'm glad that he is still with us but so should Mookie Betts be. A multi billionaires budget knows no real boundary.
  2. rest is good for sure but there is a time to rest and a time to maybe think about digging a little deeper. My complaint with Cora and his rest days would be that often it appears that a bat has just come to life and low and behold it is a scheduled rest day. I would like to see him let it go a little more. I'm also not a big fan of always doing the lefty righty thing with potential young hitting prospects. If they don't get the opportunity to hit both lefties and righties, you'll never know if they can.
  3. Common sense and business sense I guess says you are right. Obviously I'm not changing how I feel about this guy. He brings things to this team that they desperately need even when half healthy. I just have gotten tired of reading about what a terrible sign it was to reup him and how it has so dramatically held this team back. Then I start thinking about all of the mediocre as well as injured talent that we have signed over the past few years. I see that as money wasted. but hey I am a Chris Sale fan. Looking ahead, I'd be surprised if I ever get to see him hit 97/98 on that radar shot again. I'm glad that I had the opportunity to see one of the best who has worn that Red Sox jersey. I hope someone else emerges who can lead the way again. I don't see it on the horizon and as long as a profit continues to be turned I don't see it coming through free agency or trade.
  4. I don't think so. Did I say that? What I am saying is that notin constantly bringing up The DD era and trying to defend Bloom by using it is ridiculous. I'm still trying to support Bloom and I'm still waiting to see the next real superstar appear in a Red sox uniform.
  5. This i get and i do understand this. Personally i think that Sale absolutely deserved the deals he got. He earned them. If people want to think that that signing has literally crippled us for what the last 4 or 5 years, so be it. I'm sorry but look at the junk really that he has signed and brought in to us. I do understand how you feel though.
  6. Ridiculous!
  7. Did you say brainless? Wait til next year or maybe the next or the next or a few more until things become sustainable. We'll show em what we can do for cheap.
  8. It is isn't about dates and times and budgets I guess to me. I'm painfully aware of everything that you have said. If I had to choose would I choose to have Betts here right now without Story and without Devers? Absolutely without one bit of doubt.
  9. Personally it makes no difference to me who was ultimately or even partially responsible for the fact that Betts does not wear a Red Sox uniform at this point in time. DD, Bloom, JH, blah blah blah or should I say ... Him going to the Dodgers means and meant that we lost a potential once in a generation talent. If Mookie ever had intentions of staying in Boston, which we will never truly know for sure, and he was allowed to walk because of the $ it would have taken to keep him here, I don't see it as being justifiable. We went on to sign Story and then this year Devers as well. Something just doesn't seem right with this line of reasoning. In general, I'm not really fond of much that Bloom has or has not done since he has been here but he is the GM and I choose to support him. I do kind of wish though that all of this sustainable talent that he has been responsible for developing would be put on display soon so that I can actually have a real good reason for choosing to follow them.
  10. well let's diagnose this. For starters, you are uncoachable I guess pretty much like me. As for stupid, I'm not going to offer an assessment about you. In my case, I'm likely a little bit of both. I'm bored as well and they do offer some form of entertainment such as it is. There are only so many more golf balls for me to hit. Maybe we are just hopeful that something good could happen.
  11. hmmm Are you stupid are you just uncoachable? Stupid at least can be worked with.lol
  12. No question at all about that one. The hype that came along with Song and what we thought he could be was great.
  13. You're right about that I think.
  14. There is an old expression that sums up how I have always felt about athletics in general - What I had I gave, because what I saved I lost. They could certainly have done more and still have been very cognizant of the future.
  15. I agree. I like Cora and i can only imagine the pressure that he is under daily. What he decides to do and say and address in that clubhouse is no business of mine.
  16. A major rookie shouldn't make that mistake. Pretty basic baseball play.
  17. I would never advocate for someone like Valentine but I do hate to see bad baseball. Here is a question that might be asked to that "dumbassed" base runner - Are you stupid or are you uncoachable? Stupid you can live with uncoachable not so much. You don't have to be an autocrat to get your players to pay attention to detail. Someone should have been legitimately pissed off at said baserunner or maybe even your 3rd base coach. Maybe it's ok what happened to end yesterday's game right. In this day and age we would never want to embarrass or even worse make these guys feel bad about themselves. lol My personal opinion (hope that it is ok to express this still on here without supporting it with data) is that this team is not particularly well coached even though I do still like Cora.
  18. I like Cora in many respects but who is ultimately to blame for the absolutely stupid and undefendible play that ended yesterday's game? It is situational baseball plays like this that make a big difference between the best and the worst of them.
  19. I would have liked to have seen Verdugo traded at the deadline. He obviously has some talent but is it possible that there might be a little too much me me me in him and not enough team?
  20. I doubt that he does much to help us out over the winter. He may make a run at something flashy to keep interest up but signing quality top of the rotation guys costs more money than it appears is likely to be spent. Most people seem excited about what is getting stockpiled in the minors but how about the pitching?
  21. I really do think that Bloom is looking at his current potential rotation which may or may not actually happen as being as good if not better than most - Sale- Bello - Paxton - Houck - Pivetta with everybody else in the pen could be very good. If you think that that is a pretty good group, why would you put together a trade that would cost you some pretty good players and possibly some pretty good prospects for anybody else? He has certainly added players to the farm unfortunately I don't see the next great arm down there. At some point in time, maybe not this season, some quality arms need to be added. Of the guys playing right now, Duran looks and is playing like one of the best athletes I have seen in a long time. He reminds me of a very young Yaz although just a little faster then the captain. Casas looks good and could be very good. As for anyone else, think I'd like to see them at the big league level before I go nuts over them.
  22. Thank you for this.
