  1. Or just maybe DD will do what is best for his team since he is a general manager on a HOF career. You continue to be all over him. Not sure. Time to let it go.
  2. My mistake for which I apologize. I thought that in many of your posts you at least suggested that DD had depleted the farm.
  3. I do agree with you here.
  4. I don't agree with you here at all. I only comment about DD when either you or notin express your feelings with respect to what you feel it is that he did to our farm system. You do a very good job of justifying how you feel i'll admit but it still remains your opinion. Some of us do not believe that it was as devastating as you both want to make out that it was. Some of us really do believe that it wasn't depleted of all talent when he left and some of us believe that he used it the way it should be used. I am very much over this controversy now though. Your feud with Red causes this topic to continually be brought up. Hey, I'm a long leash kind of guy but I do wish that DD was still here.
  5. Ok Bell - I give him credit for those two moves. I'll add though that I could have made those two. they were not signs of great genius.
  6. Even the hint that Bloom is in the same category as Dombrowski at this point in his career is a joke. There is virtually no comparison. Liking or disliking DD's moves makes no difference. One has climbed to the top on more than one occasion, the other not so much. it really shouldn't even be debatable which of the two has accomplished more. Bloom has and has had the job now for awhile and hopefully we'll see some positive gains soon. He has had enough time. I just find the majority of his moves to be kind of blah almost as if he just wants to get rid of any player with ties to past leadership. I really doubt that Devers would have been signed if not for immense public pressure. Someone mentioned the signing of Mayer to be a great sign as if it was unexpected - really? i think that he kind of stood out. Simply adding depth to our minor league system isn't enough to excite me. I hope that whatever he is doing works going forward.
  7. Hmm - Can't speak to this on a personal from experience standpoint. Never shoed a cow either nor do I have much knowledge of fingernail piercing. Is that really a thing? Actually is shoeing a cow a thing? Long winter huh.
  8. Hey I'm all in on this guy. I'm Scottish and come from a long line of blacksmiths. Once again, a great move.
  9. hmm mentioning Duran on the same page with Clemente? I'm still just 71 for a few more days. Maybe there is hope for me yet.lol
  10. Exactly - be up front. That would be all that I need.
  11. I don't disagree with you here but what it also means is that everything you have suggested about their "plan" is also pure speculation regardless of the way that you see things. Now I'm not saying that your speculations about the plan going forward are wrong. What I am saying is that if your speculations are accurate then they truly have been giving us a line of crap about resigning either bogaerts or most others for that matter. i realize that this is also speculation. From a media perspective, they would show a lot more intelligence I think if they just shut their mouths and moved forward.
  12. This pretty more sums up how I look at things. Personally i could care less about speculating about what may be their plan moving forward. I would like them to be up front and honest with the loyal fans who have filled the seats for years.
  13. Once again, i'm not buying in to the Red Sox budget concepts so much but for those that do, I think the long term contracts can be terribly restrictive on budget flexibility. Although, if you plan to run with the big boys sometimes you have to act like them. The Sox are one of the big boys.
  14. I think that the term budget in this case is extremely relative. If your concepts of budget and plan are accurate, what does that say about every piece of information that has been published by the front office? Once again my opinion is that allowing potentially HOF talent to leave because of the "budget" when talking about a franchise this valuable is pathetic.
  15. This i agree with so much. Obviously the concept of spending what ever it takes does in fact have some significance to some big market teams. I have said for years that thinking that teams like the Red Sox actually have a budget is ridiculous. Of course teams have budgets but evidently they can be expanded on at any time. Allowing top of the food chain homegrown talent to walk when your budget is just as budget less as any other big market teams is a shame. I have no clue any more than anyone else does here what the "plan" is going forward but to date I find what they have done to be sadly pathetic.
  16. I think that the amounts of money being thrown around today whether by the owners or to the players is obscene and has done nothing to improve the games fan appeal. We ain't going back I guess. I would also like to think that there is some method to the Red Sox madness, but what sign have they given to us that they have any intention of locking any of our hopefuls up long term? If there was some apparent plan other than something some suggest, maybe a few more fans could get behind them. Right now to me, they just look like a bunch of bumblers going along with no apparent clue.
  17. Here is one that I agree with you on. I can in all honesty say that regardless of how anyone feels about the Sale contract, if it wasn't for my interest in him coming back, baseball for the first time in my life would not be a consideration with respect to my summer's entertainment. I guess that I am likely not your typical "old" Red sox fan but there might be a few others out there like me. I have loved this team and followed them religiously since the mid fifties but I can't remember a time when I have been this disgusted with the team's management. If they were to bring up some of our young players who most assume are not ready for prime time, and make a commitment to their futures then I would be interested in them. As for now, i really do think that what they have done is pathetic. If they are signing players currently that I could care less about, thinking that they can win with them, I would simply say that winning isn't everything. If this makes me a spoiled Red Sox fan who is unappreciative of the John Henry era, so be it. I am at least curious about the futures of players like Bello, Mayer, Casas, and Houck, and anyone else who has been brought along by our program.
  18. I'm not sure that servitude is the correct word to use in this instance. I'm kind of thinking that the events of the early 70's changed the way contracts were approached for sure. .
  19. I think that you are absolutely right. It is a loyalty thing as well. I think that there is a misconception that winning it all is the hook that most fans believe in. I find Bloom and the way business is currently being done to be a huge turnoff.
  20. Watching those competitive teams during the 70's and 80's gave me a lot of joy. They competed. Personally it isn't all about winning the title.
  21. Don't take your hat off when the great impaler rides through town.
  22. I have absolutely no idea what goes on inside their clubhouse but I don't think that losing players with the reputation Bogaerts has can in anyway be a good thing. He is the type of quality that good teams have to have.
  23. I agree. I don't know if he has to be dealt but I'm pretty sure that he will be. We have seen absolutely nothing to suggest otherwise.
  24. What have you been hearing about the clubhouse? If I was trying to make a point it would have been that the elimination of quality homegrown talent that has constantly proven to be positive with respect to attitude in the clubhouse can be very harmful to a team's success. I keep hearing about how attitude really doesn't make that much of a difference. Obviously i disagree .
  25. Personally, I would be better off if Bloom would just shut his mouth and do whatever it is he thinks it is that he needs to do. It is fairly clear in my mind that his way of doing this might work for some but certainly doesn't for me and it will make no difference moving forward if we win or not. Not retaining A+ home grown talent if it is conceivable, represents wrong to this fan.
