  1. I think you answered your question when you mentioned Bradford's name. what do you think- he make it up or what?
  2. Is this a question? I got no answer for you. He might even make s*** up. Wouldn't that be something else huh.
  3. Travis will outhit Devers. With respect to Devers and fitness, I haven't seen him. I'm just repeating what I read this morning. Actually it isn't anything new. I've read it before. Personally i don't believe much of what I read in the cycle of 24 hour news.
  4. So nothing to the latest Bradford report that he needs to "shed pounds" if he is going to be playing either first or third. Ultimately I don't think it will matter what Devers does as far as Travis is concerned. Travis is going to be in the lineup at some point soon I think. He is just a flat out good hitter.
  5. Is there going to be a question going forward about Devers and fitness. Word is that that if he is going to play third, he is going to have to lose weight. Don't like reading something like that. Sooner or later - maybe sooner- Sam Travis is going to be in that lineup.
  6. you continue to surprise and amaze me Notin. For the record, I am lukewarm about the wbc obviously. Maybe not even lukewarm. I'm for cheering hard to promote the great game of bb worldwide just not as much as some I guess. Selfish I know - but if the tournament is going to hurt us in anyway, i am opposed to it. I particularly do not want to see our pitchers competing for anyone other than us.
  7. I think that Pomeranz, if healthy, still could be a solid pitcher in our rotation for years. I saw him maybe at his best for us last year against Detroit. What I saw I liked. i get the fact that there aren't many who feel like i do about him but what the hell i still think that Moncada is going to be very special.
  8. That is how I see it.
  9. I think that DD is thinking Swihart is going to be our number one catcher once he has learned how to catch. It won't be long.
  10. me too actually
  11. i'm for all of the above!!! yeeha
  12. It's good for the game is an arguement that really is hard to argue with. National pride and all the other stuff. You (as in me) look a little like a weasel when you question its value. It is not for me in any way. In my mind, Porcello gets it. I'm selfish I guess. I would much prefer and might even watch a bunch of high level prospects out there doing there thing .
  13. Oh good one. No I would feel a lot better if more of it went to the masses.
  14. If E-Rod pitches in the WBC, he likely will not be ready to start the season in Boston anyway. I say - see ya later. McCoy Stadium would be a great fit for him. I might even take in one of his starts next August. lol
  15. Good luck to Vazquez for sure but judging by the latest comments from DD, Swihart still might be the guy they expect to be the catcher of the future for the Sox. I continue to think that they just aren't completely sold on either Leon or Vazquez's ability to get it done on a regular basis. This might be just a bridge year to get to Swihart.
  16. Where is she going to school and what does she want to do? Those were great times for me. A little anxiety but still a lot of fun.
  17. I got sick days that I really didn't use (too much work getting ready for a sub) 15 per year. I had accumulated over 400 by the time I retired but I could only get credit for 30. 2 personal days per year that could not be used for recreational purposes. a couple of bereavement days. It was enough I guess for me but compared to what these guys have, sounds a bit Draconian. Got up went to work every day. times have changed. The contracts that they have negotiated are actually turning me off to the game.
  18. I could care less whether or not technically anyone has violated a contract here. My personal opinion is that the wbc would be much like the Olympic games just wonderful for amateur athletes. My fault I'm sure but I thought that an arrival date for spring training meant that that was the day the job began. I admit, I come I guess from a different era. I wasn't allowed to do what I wanted to do all of the time. We just had to do what we were paid and expected to do. It actually worked out pretty well. I understand that being loyal and responsible might be touchy subjects to some.
  19. I'm sorry notin . I just lost track of the situation. Silly me - i thought that spring training was actually part of their job.
  20. E-Rod - me as well . It really bothers me!
  21. wow - not sure how to take this one. Aren't you a Seattle fan. Hmmm - gets me thinking. Actually though yes- I think that if you have a job for which you are contracted to do you should probably meet the contracted obligations. Kind of like the rest of the people who actually work for a living have to.
  22. this I agree with.
  23. Many people think that his bat is just ready
  24. I'll say again, I think that there is more to this than we know. if they thought that for sure all was well going forward with either Leon or Vazquez, using Swihart solely as a catcher if the bat is ready would seem foolish. He is their big contingency plan. Either that or they don't think that his bat is as ready as some people who post here think that it is.
  25. it is a tough arguement to counter as well. Who wants to play the bad guy and say no you can't play for your country. Although injuries can happen easily even at home, I think that it is ridiculous as well as selfish for anyone who might think that they are going to be pitching at the ml level this summer to participate. Obviously this might be an old fashioned attitude. I'm glad that Porcello thinks this way as well.
