  1. if the data is used, it has to fit the needs of the specific team it is being used for. One size does not fit all.
  2. Has he ever been injured? I'm sure that poor mechanics can lead to all types of problems, but he appears to have been pretty healthy for the last 5 years or so. For some of these guys, I think that it is just the luck of the draw. You pays your money, you takes your chances.
  3. I think that it depends on how you interpret the numbers. What specifically determines who your best hitter is? I would think that if you had a team filled with fairly good hitters you have the luxury of putting specific types of hitters in positions that you think will help the team the most. I like my best run producer batting third.
  4. Has he ever been injured? He has been at it for awhile now. His delivery does look a little strange for sure. If Price has a unique elbow, maybe Sale gets away with the delivery.
  5. It is optimistic. Gives me something to talk about. Initially, I think that he starts in Pawtucket for sure. If (and it is a big if) he returns to the form he had when he was at his best, he will force himself into someone's lineup. if he hits like he used to, it very well might be ours. It will create some good competition for sure.
  6. I tend to be overly optimistic but that being said, even when I try to keep things in perspective, I still think he makes it all the way back.
  7. Will the real Allen Craig please stand up. Is this really possible? If he is healthy, what is going to happen? If he suddenly turns in to the Allen Craig of yesteryear, someone might have to step aside. He was that good.
  8. He may never become an excellent catcher but he very well may be good enough going forward to start for us for a long time.
  9. I agree with both of you. (mvp + 700). Another writer trying to create controversy where none at all exists. I actually think that David Price understands how things work. I'm pretty sure that it isn't just in Boston either.
  10. All my best to your mother -in- law. It is great that she has such a supporting family. Inaccurate information given in her case is unacceptable. If inaccurate medical information is being given to the family of David Price, that would be unacceptable as well. If I receive biased or slightly inaccurate information about the David Price injury - ho hum - that is the way it goes. i will still watch them.
  11. I don't want to come off here as saying that we shouldn't be concerned about David Price. We all are. I guess what I mean is that there are some things that stay in that clubhouse. I'm willing to accept the fact that I have been told what they want the public to be told. I believe that they are being as truthful as they can and need to be.
  12. Thank you for posting this. This is what I like and what we have been talking about. Regardless of what happens going forward for him, he gets it. I love these types of players.
  13. It works for me. i do not have that much of a need to know. it is possible that they might not even think that we need to know! What is the world coming to? What I am really trying to say is that anyone who really gives a s***, might want to consider what really matters in the world. if I am not part of the program, I am a fan. I'm pretty much good with what they tell me.
  14. I suppose it might. i think that maybe you and I see things a little differently don't you think? The good news at least for me is that I don't have to agree with any of your views and opinions and vice versa. And honestly, yes, I did think that I owed something to the person whose name appeared on the bottom of my paycheck.
  15. My statement was very general even though I think that it is an extremely accurate take on society today. i can only speak for myself. In his same situation, I would not be going.
  16. good - Without knowing anything at all about the CBA, my guess would be that the players are pretty well protected against anything that could conceivebly harm them.
  17. I was actually being sarcastic. I don't know how the system works and honestly I don't care. There continues to be a tremendous shortage of accountability in the world of today. Do what you want when you want and bitch of you don't like the fact that you don't get your way. Sorry but if I was his employer he would get what he should get - 0.
  18. I hope you do. I think that it is important that you do.
  19. No one is going to disagree with you there I hope. It's the (price) the high rollers pay though I guess. Nothing we can do about it.
  20. He has been posting here for awhile and has joined the so-called list of the accepted. i think that it is good to hear some takes from someone who works in the medical field. If the Red Sox are keeping something from us with respect to the Price injury, I'm ok with it. I don't have this great need to know. I agree with you with respect to having a little faith in what we have heard from the medical professionals who are dealing with Price. It is often suggested that the doctors and everyone working in the training field having anything to do with the Red Sox often don't know what they are talking about. I think that that is ridiculous. I'm pretty sure that they know what they are talking about.
  21. When he first broke in, all of the scouting reports said that a #2 was a reasonable projection. If he is healthy, he can certainly be more than adequate in the three hole. He has a talented arm and looks to be built for the long haul. I hope that there is not a disconnect between his brain and his arm.
  22. Sometimes in life, we have decisions to make. With a potential major league contract on the line, he is choosing to go pitch for his country. Can't criticize that can you in today's world. if he gets cut, maybe he will be able to sue the Red Sox to get what he thinks is his job back.
  23. i'm not sure at all whether he will come back when he thinks he will but I think that he is genuine and sincere. I know that there are people here who did not like the signing and the contract. I'm not one of them. I think that he is tough and very sincere. He has been a workhorse. Ridden hard and put away wet for most of his career. I think that he is the type of person and baseball player that we want in Boston.
  24. I want it to be a positive outcome for him and us of course, but I think that there is a good chance that what you have said might happen.
  25. I'm not sure that most think that it is meaningless at all. i think that there are plenty of people here who think that our pitchers should not be involved for sure. Personally, I don't think that contracted professionals should be playing in it.
