  1. I think that you would be surprised. I'm starting to be educated with respect to the influence AAU sports is having today. I think that there will always be a debate as to how much of one thing is good or bad.
  2. Interesting - I feel the same way. As far as I am concerned what they are doing at shortstop and the revolving door at second is ridiculous. I at least want something that is a little more entertaining to watch.
  3. Bello - Houck - and maybe Whitlock = starters moving forward I think. I don't think that there is much to get excited about just yet for sure. Historically I also think that we have over rated our young players. We obviously have more players with potential in or farm system since we have not traded for anyone with hopes of making the team that counts any better. There are obviously different ways to get the job done. I hope that the way we are currently doing things work. Also, i think that Hernandez is a valuable player but if he is yarded out there in the shortstop position again, the definition of stupid comes in to play once again.
  4. ...and there again is that name - Dombrowski. Time to let it all go.
  5. I tend to agree with you about Mayer right now. One of the reasons being that we need deep a shortstop desperately. I would also keep Yorke. Our potential second baseman of the future. To be perfectly honest, I wouldn't mind seeing both of those guys up there right now and I could care less about the mumble jumble about bringing anybody up too soon. Personally I would like to have a better reason to watch them then what they are selling most of the time. Everybody wants to crap on the starting pitching but I tend to tune in when Bello, Paxton, and Houck have the ball.
  6. Whatever you mean by relevance in this instance I guess notin. never under any circumstances would I even mention Wacha's name when talking about anything relevant to Sale. There are likely not many players in the game today who have gone through what Sale has gone through to attempt to get back to where he once was. He gets a pass in my book. It's once thing to keep piling on Bloom or Dombrowski I guess but Sale's saga strikes me as a bit different. If more players today, had a little more "Sale" in them, the game might be actually fun to watch. Now I guess this is where some one gets to talk about torn jerseys and how he has collected millions for nothing right?
  7. I'm just not so much into the metrics thing I guess.
  8. Houck wants to start, the Red sox want him to start and he should start. He is young with a very strong arm.
  9. Personally i wish that people would lay off the Sale talk. We had a chance to see him at his best for a short time. Likely we'll never see him like that again. A player with his ability grit and determination gets a pass from me.
  10. hmmm - possibly but they could also try to convert him to an outfielder lol
  11. DFAing Tapia is upsetting. he played hard and he played well. I have very little faith in even thinking that Arroyo can stay healthy for any length of time. Sale's injury really really hurts. One of my very favorite pitchers to watch. Without him or should I say a healthy him, you lose the ace that good teams all need. I'm thinking that I may have seen the end of the days when he was one of the best that I know that I have seen. When he was on the mound, it was must watch baseball for me.
  12. Mayer to Portland. We are going to find out soon enough just how good this can is.
  13. I think that we have our second baseman . Valdez is just fine out there. Valdez's defense has been criticized on here much like Devers was a few years ago. i don't see it. I say leave him out there and let him get better and better.
  14. Mata is somewhat of a disappointment at this point in time for all of us who want to see these young guys step up and get it done. He has a really live arm. Hope he figures it out - for his sake and for ours.
  15. Houck has a great arm always has. The talk of him moving to the pen, has always been just that - talk. He starts - he wants to start - he will continue to start. The competition between these guys is a good thing. They all will get their chances.
  16. what I am saying is that he prepared for this season with quite a bit of work prior to his call up - possibly too much. If the pros aren't concerned with that arm, then I hope that he doesn't get treated like he is always one or two pitches away from being at the end.
  17. You're likely right. My guess is that he gets 2 more starts and if things don't improve for him, the injury bug bites.
  18. I guess my question would be how many starts did he have before they called him up? Based on that, doesn't look like protecting that arm by limiting his pitches to any major extent is particularly important. 109 shouldn't have much impact on him at this point.
  19. Kluber of course gets at least one more start.
  20. What does hamilton have to do to get the call? He deserves the call up and the opportunity. I'm not really buying in to the righty lefty thing. Arroyo, as talented as he seems to be, just can't stay on the field. Hamilton has done the work and brings a great skill set to the table.
  21. I watched the last two starts for him. I don't see any reason why they wouldn't stick with him at this point for sure. Any starting pitcher that can keep you in ball games is worth quite a bit these days.
  22. Watching Tapia play and compete over the past few games has been a treat. He is a disrupter who can play the game. He really can get down the line. Bunting, stealing and in general running keeps the pressure on.
  23. Watching Chris Sale and I do mean the Chris Sale pitch last night gave me as much pleasure as just about anything I have seen sports wise in recent years. I am just so glad that we were all able to see him do it in a Red Sox uniform. I do understand all of the whining that went along with his resigning I guess, although personally I have have never questioned it. I guess that it is even possible (hopefully not) that we won't see that type of dominating fastball from him again but for now what a sight it was to see. A vintage top of the food chain competitor.
