  1. So all I have heard for some time now is how strong our farm system has become and how much brighter our "sustainable" future has become. Common sense tells me that if players like Rafaela and Abreau could become future stars, they should be in the everyday lineup right now. I don't mean in ph roles or late inning replacement roles. I don't understand what is going on at all. Personally I can say that I don't see anything coming from this management team that gives me much hope for now or the future. Does anybody out there really have confidence that Bloom or whoever will be willing to make moves that will obviously strengthen us? If you start from nothing (which I understand we are not), wouldn't you think that pitching and defense would be the primary jobs you need to fill? If in Bloom's mind that is how he is thinking, we are in for a long long struggle. It wouldn't surprise me at all if we endured another very quiet off season listening to how close our young players are and how good they will be.
  2. I agree with you . I think that Bello might have the stuff to get #2 as does Houck but after that it is up for grabs. Crawford will eat innings at the back of the line and likely throw a good one from time to time. We need help up front. I'm not sure they will make the moves necessary. I'm finally willing to say that Chris Sale just won't be coming in that proverbial door again anytime soon. I am very happy that I had the chance to see him at his best.
  3. Still crazy (married) after all these years.
  4. Which he is for sure but yesterday he turned 81.
  5. My 32 (at the time) year old brother married a 21 year old who asked me about my brother's age - "He is 25 isn't he?" Oh yes of course was my reply!
  6. Not even close to trying to make a joke. I know right - 28. Can't keep them too long. What possible sense would it have made to have signed him to a long term contract?
  7. Based on what I have seen this year I would tend to want to try to keep Verdugo. Looks like you know what you have in him and it is not bad. I like what Duran has to offer but I would hold judgement on any of the younger folks helping us until we actually see them getting a chance and seeing them do it.
  8. How important do you think that actual performance quality should be considered?
  9. Don't you get it. We can't be signing anybody over the age of 30 to anything other than a one year contract. It is all downhill after 30!
  10. Wow - didn't see this one coming from the voices here. Hopefully this doesn't go down as just one other signing by Bloom to make the fan base actually feel like they are doing something constructive.
  11. yes - Stuart and Casas is a wash.
  12. hmmm - is it he who should not be named?
  13. We have a pant load of pretty good dhs on this team. lol
  14. What i find particularly nerve wracking is the defense or lack thereof. Realistically, it kind of looks like we have 3 dh's in the lineup when Yoshida is in the outfield and Devers is at third and Casas is at first. They are all talented and likely are better than they look to me and maybe they might even get better but when did defense become so undervalued? It has cost us quite a few games.
  15. Has anything ever stopped you from expressing your viewpoint? Let the good times roll.
  16. Oh come on now notin, I'm agreeing with you - dd was obviously the worst thing that could have happened to the franchise. But I will add that it might be time to move on. I don't think that DD cares too much about what you or the other 2 or 3 people here who feel like you do think. We have all heard you.
  17. Of course you are going to find a way to blame DD. What would you do without him?
  18. Pretty much how I feel. I am a fan but I don't pretend to understand nor do I want to learn about the budgetary restraints that a multi billionaire must face. If he had wanted Mookie here badly enough, he would still be here.
  19. I kind of think like you so now that you have chosen to go down this road, get ready. You likely will hear many many times about how the farm system had absolutely been devastated and we just had to do what we had to do. The only excuse for Mookie leaving that might remotely make sense would be that he just did not want to play in Boston anymore. Kind of looks like that wasn't the case at all.
  20. I'll likely tune in just to watch the greeting he receives. He has all of the qualities and characteristics you want in a player plus being one of the best to ever play the game.
  21. I don't know whether or not they are robots. Guess I should be apologizing for my coaching career. Oh well, it is a teaching philosophy that works. I really couldn't care any less what you think about how I approach athletes and athletics in general. Once again I like Devers. I just didn't like seeing him beaten like that. He gets criticized on here and just in general plenty. I'll take anger over hiding your head in your hands any day.
  22. Oh and yes I do know some ballplayers. He had a bad moment but I don't think that I would consider him an "immature crybaby". As for the others you mentioned, I could care less about them. I don't know Devers. Don't twist my words and suggest that I think I know him. It is my opinion. You don't like it - I get that.
  23. yes he did. Like I said, I like him. I just don't like to see my leaders act this way. I'm likely too old, don't you think? I spent too many years trying to help young athletes get through these types of situations without letting the world know how they feel. I understand it of course but I still don't like to see it. It is my opinion.
  24. I am a member of that "less sophisticated" group of fans for sure. I have to say so that I am very impressed that this comment didn't rate a special criticism from either or both of notin or moon. dd the great ruiner of all things farm system related. I also am impressed with them both for not commenting. It makes me think that maybe it is time to move forward and look at the current regime as owning what it has done, what it is doing, and where it is going.
