  1. Even though I got caught up in the euphoria of the signing, Sandoval looks like one of the worst deals the franchise has ever made. I'm not even sure what the allure was looking back in hindsight. A player's performance in the post season no matter how good is not reason enough to make the sign. It is a long season. I still have hope for Hanley - have to- and as for Price, if he can throw, he won't hurt us. If he is healthy, it is more than likely that he will help us. If Martinez is signed, I think that we could have a very explosive offense if things fall into place. Although I do not expect DD to stop there, it might actually be enough. Could be a wild ride with the Red Sox right in the middle of things. Not giving an inch to the Yanks!!! Also, from the sounds of things, Martinez is a great clubhouse guy and a great teammate.
  2. Hey look on the bright side- people with some good old school ways of looking at things are still tolerated for the most part. If they knew my views about the influence of social media on society in general they might chase me off though. lol
  3. Oh boy - I'll say it again though , with our current ownership, I would be very surprised if Wright returns to the Red Sox.
  4. Get it done DD - sign Martinez!
  5. Saw an interview with him last week - probably everybody else did to but it sure sounded good. Kind of like he is excited, healthy and into a new fitness regimen. If he makes us a better team next year, hey I don't mind seeing him vest for 2019. But - oh well not my $
  6. I'm proud of you for asking that question! I think that that is the answer you probably expected as well. Butterfield is a good man. With people like him sometimes you can read between he lines. My guess is that deep inside, he didn't have much fun in that clubhouse this year. He deserves better.
  7. If you can't simply report the news, why not just create some! lol
  8. I guess our man just wasn't feeling desperate. I'm still all in on a Martinez sign. Maybe one for first. If not sign Moreland. A package including Bradley for quality pitching works for me. I like Jackie. He has been fun to watch but it might be time to move him if there is a partner out there willing to give up something solid.
  9. ah ah ah - i knew it, i just knew it
  10. If he is back in Boston, regardless of the details, I would be surprised.
  11. Oh you don't need to apologize. I just think that it is a sad situation in general.
  12. No no no - don't misunderstand me and make a statement like that. That is not what I was implying at all.
  13. I understand what you are saying here and it is the highroad. It is logical. I 'm just a little hesitant to buy into the theory that New York was his choice of destination.
  14. In this day and age? I would be really surprised if he is back in Boston.
  15. Slasher alert - where are you when we need you? lol
  16. This deal has a certain smell to it an odor the reminds me of the good old days of Yankee Red Sox rivalries when the Yanks were buying their way to tenants. In general, I never cared much about it but this one stinks. I said a long time ago that if Stanton ever went to the Sox that Jeter would not be able to walk the streets of New York again. Stanton was never going to come to Boston! Regardless of what anyone thinks of this particular deal it stinks. I don't think that it was a great desire on his part to go to New York regardless of how many people here extoll the virtues of that magnificent city. It will be interesting to see and hear what develops as we move forward. Maybe it is just business as usual and maybe it isn't.
  17. yes for sure - How many years of his prime plus though do we have to be tortured through? He looks very good to me and at his age I'm thinking the Yanks got a guy who can carry the offense for a few years - Not to mention the rest of the boys. No matter how it is spun, this is a big one. Real rivalry renewed.
  18. I apologize for this comment. I'm sure that you are a great person. Just a concerned, aggravated, motivated Red Sox fan here.
  19. no no look kids a doctor (???) who has time to fiddley fart on multiple forum boards as well as have a practice.
  20. I'm ok with this now that I have processed it. I do expect moves to be made to strengthen the team that we currently have. I also absolutely believe that the Yankees signing of stanton will motivate and bring out the best of what we have which really isn't all that bad. Not being considered the favorite now by any stretch has got to get these guys going. We are going to really find out what we have in some of them real soon. It's ok with me that stanton had no interest in coming to Boston. Unless you have lived in New England, you don't get it. I think that this is likely to bring out some fight in some people that we need to see it from. I can't believe that JH and DD won't be up to accept this challenge either.
  21. The guys at Barstool got it right - This would be akin to David Ortiz buying the Angels then trading us Mike Trout for Devon Marero. Lets go Papi - get it done.
  22. Monty could hit a golf ball 5 miles too. he was a pretty good player.
  23. crap happens so they say- Got to keep your head up and push on through. Never know what the future might hold. I don't think the sox are likely to go in to quit mode.
  24. Sorry - didn't realize who I was dealing with!
