  1. This deal has a certain smell to it an odor the reminds me of the good old days of Yankee Red Sox rivalries when the Yanks were buying their way to tenants. In general, I never cared much about it but this one stinks. I said a long time ago that if Stanton ever went to the Sox that Jeter would not be able to walk the streets of New York again. Stanton was never going to come to Boston! Regardless of what anyone thinks of this particular deal it stinks. I don't think that it was a great desire on his part to go to New York regardless of how many people here extoll the virtues of that magnificent city. It will be interesting to see and hear what develops as we move forward. Maybe it is just business as usual and maybe it isn't.
  2. yes for sure - How many years of his prime plus though do we have to be tortured through? He looks very good to me and at his age I'm thinking the Yanks got a guy who can carry the offense for a few years - Not to mention the rest of the boys. No matter how it is spun, this is a big one. Real rivalry renewed.
  3. I apologize for this comment. I'm sure that you are a great person. Just a concerned, aggravated, motivated Red Sox fan here.
  4. no no look kids a doctor (???) who has time to fiddley fart on multiple forum boards as well as have a practice.
  5. I'm ok with this now that I have processed it. I do expect moves to be made to strengthen the team that we currently have. I also absolutely believe that the Yankees signing of stanton will motivate and bring out the best of what we have which really isn't all that bad. Not being considered the favorite now by any stretch has got to get these guys going. We are going to really find out what we have in some of them real soon. It's ok with me that stanton had no interest in coming to Boston. Unless you have lived in New England, you don't get it. I think that this is likely to bring out some fight in some people that we need to see it from. I can't believe that JH and DD won't be up to accept this challenge either.
  6. The guys at Barstool got it right - This would be akin to David Ortiz buying the Angels then trading us Mike Trout for Devon Marero. Lets go Papi - get it done.
  7. Monty could hit a golf ball 5 miles too. he was a pretty good player.
  8. crap happens so they say- Got to keep your head up and push on through. Never know what the future might hold. I don't think the sox are likely to go in to quit mode.
  9. Sorry - didn't realize who I was dealing with!
  10. lol - I like that.
  11. Think that I am ready to say that at this point there is very little comparison between Travis and Moreland. If first base boils down to this decision, I don't think that there is much to decide. Moreland, with all of his apparent limitations, can hit the ball farther than Travis. The last thing this team needs now is to even consider replacing a bat with a little home run pop with another singles hitter. Add the big bats and maybe Sam gets a chance but to date he has a lot more to prove than the guy who has already proven at least something at the ml level. I like Sam to but I don't think there is any chance he starts the season in Boston. Depending on what gets done, he might even be packaged up nicely and traded away.
  12. a damned good recommendation. If you say it my friend, it works for me.
  13. X 3. Imagine that
  14. He might be very good going forward. I do wish that we had him. I just couldn't let a devoted Yankee fan have all of the fun no matter how intelligent he wants to make me think he is. That crap really doesn't fly with old school, Scottish, New Englanders. I agree with you on this - as good as this kid looked this year, I think that i will temper my future HOF considerations for him. In fairness, I'll do the same for Benintendi and Devers. They really haven't proven a whole helluva lot just yet.
  15. Hey - I'm all for number 3. It's how I got there! lol
  16. thank you so sir for giving me your concern - remember though I have never claimed to be very bright.
  17. I agree with this one as well but I would add that if he decides to spend what he chooses to spend it probably will have nothing to do with him potentially going over any type of monetary limit established by anyone. I'm thinking that he will probably make moves that seem to make a little sense to us but to assume based on anything that anyone here can look at what he has spent and try to guess what he might spend in the future is a stretch for me. Billionaires don't operate on a level that most of us can identify with. We have an insider here maybe we have a billionaire on board as well.
  18. I really think that you might be right. I like very much how you phrased this. It does not lead me to think that you might think that you know more about this than the rest of us do. In reality, of course I understand that they have a budget but I would never pretend to understand to what extent a billionaire might go to get what he wants. I think that your comment shows some degree of common sense. I agree by the way.
  19. Most of us really do admit that we don't have a clue as to what John Henry might be willing to do with his money.
  20. You are talking garbage arguement but yet you use a player like Adam Dunn to use as his yardstick. Where did you get that degree from really doc? Now I realize that you will probably now tell me what a genius you are but sorry I'm not biting. Good try though. Do you really post on a Yankees forum? Hey maybe you are our insider.
  21. no divulging yet - we get to guess I think . Oh Slasher whee are you when we need you?
  22. Vazquez's pitch framing was about as good as I have seen. Now I know that I don't follow other catchers much and I certainly don't pay attention to their advanced statistics but I watched a whole bunch of games and he really is good. I think that I have actually seen progression though. Early in the season last, i felt that he was actually trying to move balls back into the strike zone that maybe he didn't need to move. I felt at the time that it might have cost his pitchers some strikes. His framing is much more subtle IMO. I really thin that he is good - one of the best that I have seen.
  23. if Slasher says it it must be so
