I don't think that Slasher hates him. There a few people here who comment as though they have a great dislike for the man but it kind of seems like that dislike results from him not agreeing with them when it comes to running a ml team. Now I do expect what is coming - we don't hate him - actually we liked some of his moves but felt that he gave up way too much - he has single handedly destroyed our one time bountiful minor league system.

Kimbrel was one of the really good stories in baseball last year. He is still with us. Don't think that I would knowingly weaken one area of strength that we have. I agree with some that the whole concept of relief specialists is overblown but I don't think that messing with an area of strength for something unknown makes much sense.

I think that they were just all pooped out Bell. They just needed more rest.

I guess you could say I'm pretty much right with you here. I love the fact that we finally won a World Series or three but baseball and its' season has always meant so much more to me. the season is long and I far prefer cheering for a team that has a competitive chance to make the playoffs year in and year out. The playoffs represent and entirely new season to me. I enjoy the slow trudge of the regular season more than I do this new thing we call the second season.

You seem pretty serious about all this stuff Moon. I'm starting to feel sorry for you and whoever you mean when you use the word "we". I'm pretty sure that I shouldn't even be involved in this discussion because it really isn't that big a deal to me.

Couple questions for you Notin- Who said anything about anyone wanting DD to be fired? Who thinks that the current state of our farm system is fine? I am kind of sorry that you might think that I am being condescending if you are talking about me. Maybe I am being but what I would say is that I read these posts carefully. I just choose not to buy all of the embellished ******** that gets thrown around by people who are upset if everybody doesn't agree with them.

Obviously he is good for the game regardless of what anyone thinks about him personally. If he is back - really back- we will find out just how good this next generation is because they quite likely have never seen anyone play like this guy has played.

Pretty solid two days for a guy who has been away for a long time. That 2 iron from 260 on day one was vintage Tiger. Only one other man I ever saw could do something like that - Jack! maybe his comeback is for real this time.

Excellent point and very true. It is just very simple stuborness IMO to continually bring up a thought that might or might not happen in the future and compare it to something disastrous that does on occasion occur. It is just a desire to be "right" about something for which there is no right. It has become a way for a few here to essentially complain about leadership that they don't personally agree with. I'll give these few people credit for their "fight back" but it really isn't much of a topic for the average fan I guess since no one uses this "cliff" expression. We all understand that our current farm system has been weakened and probably don't really need the daily reminders and the gross exaggeration that comes along with it. The majority of the posters here do not live in the world of hindsight and seem to understand that moves needed to be made to allow us to compete. Like the moves or not, I would say as others have that it might be time to move on but I'm pretty sure that it isn't going to happen. So - Yah baby give me some of that good old gloom and doom cliff talk!

Pomeranz, Kimbrel, Sale - anyone else that i might have missed? Could have kept those guys we gave up so that we could have traded them one hitter this year I guess. Nah - I'm ok with it. Can't get something for nothing these days. Anyone we have who plays on a day to day basis other than Betts would be fair game as far as I am concerned. If we had not had Pomeranz, Kimbrel, and Sale we very likely would have had a couple of mediocre years at best. Wouldn't have liked that. In my opinion this team is loaded with prospects, they just happen to be playing at the ml level currently.

lol - good one - I think that I have figured it out. If we did absolutely nothing as a franchise for the next couple of years. Held a pat hand - made absolutely no moves what so ever - It would be likely that we might face this mythical cliff referred to. I think that I finally get it. This is a post by someone who might know something about baseball. Try as I might, I can't conjure up my worry gnads to even think that I would be bothered if we were unable to sign any of the listed players. Probably I would like to see Sale stay and probably I would make the big play to keep Betts but as for the rest of the boys. Would not panic over losing any of them.
