  1. SS - We all love JBJ out there in centerfield. I'm a little confused by this discussion. Seems like some of us just like him more than others. I don't hear anybody saying that we should trade him. Of course it is possible. It should be. Almost all of them are tradeable.
  2. I don't think so. He is going to become even a better fielder as time goes on and it just looks like he is going to be more productively consistent at the plate. Tough job being the GM I think. It is all about stick handling the process to come up with the best team overall that you can come up with.. It isn't about being the best defensive or offensive team. They are not stand alone items. DD has to sift his way through in an effort to have the best team that he can have. He won't make everybody happy for sure.
  3. Me either - that is probably why he hasn't been traded. He doesn't have to even be an everyday player to still have great value to us.
  4. Not that I think there is much of a chance that JBJ gets traded, I would really have to question how much of a difference moving Benintendi to his natural centerfield poison would make. I don't think that JD for beni in left would really make that much difference. I think that the big gain might come in who we got as a result of a JBJ trade.
  5. As much as I would hate to see JBJ moved - Having an outfield of Martinez,Benintendi, and Betts would be fine in fenway. A solid trade that works for us involving JBJ could only make us a stronger team. I agree with you entirely. And yes before it is pointed out to me, I do indeed understand the great importance of defense and especially defense up the middle.
  6. that is what I thought
  7. Based on what I have read about Martinez, it sounds to me like he is an excellent teammate. In fact, just what we need. If he signs with Boston, sounds to me like he is the kind of guy who will do what is asked of him. These assumptions that what maybe 2 people have made on here are painting a picture of a selfish player and that is horseshit. Does not even deserve the ******** call.
  8. Where is this coming from- this idea that he is insisting on being able to play in the outfield? I'm sure that if he had a choice he would love to be in that outfield but these very few comments about him "insisting" or "demanding" must either be just made up to rile people up or someone knows something that they really aren't talking about.
  9. I read and understand what you are saying but I don't understand why you would say it. I'm pretty sure that JD has stated his desire to play in the field but not one time have I read that he would not sign for a team if they had another potential plan for him. In all honesty, I don't think there is any way Boston signs a player who makes demands like that. It would make 0 sense regardless of how good he might be. I doubt very much that it would ever happen and I sure hope that it wouldn't. I'll hold the lint with my thinking - I'm not saying that a trade of JBJ to help our team won't happen but signing Martinez doesn't make that a given. Plenty of at bats and playing time for them all. Also, if we are going to just throw statements around here is another one - Martinez might not get signed and JBJ still gets traded! It is possible.
  10. The signing of JD Martinez could be altogether independent of a move of JBJ. His signing does not mean that any imminent move of JBJ or Ramirez is necessary.
  11. Yup - And I can deal from a deck of 5 aces also.
  12. You are just trying to stir up trouble once again! Is your first name Cliff? lol:)
  13. "f***tard" - lol positive regression- Is that like bouncing back? KISS principle for me.
  14. Yes that is much better. Our pitching staff is better than most and will likely face the same set of trials and tribulations that every other team in the league will face. Before it is all said and done, I think that we will probably add another arm. Through what method though is still to be determined.
  15. Very true I think. I really have to think which I obviously do that when these superstars are given these super long term contracts , that the for the most part super rich owners have no expectations really that they will get their monies worth for the duration of the contract. I like the auction analogy.
  16. Oh man - that obvious
  17. I'm just in a rip roaring rambling rampage today.
  18. Gonna fall on deaf ears here my friend. Seriously think about all of that talent we would still have and who we could trade it for now if we hadn't made a power move to win a couple of years ago. I'm having a hard day - I'm finally coming to the realization that Bellhorn doesn't read my posts and that the cliff is certainly closer than guys like you and I thought it could be and that one of the worst moves that we could ever make would be to sign one of the best hitters in the game to a 5 year contract. How will we ever have enough money to re-sign the likes of Bradley and Bogaerts? Plus the fact that if we don't rush out and sign a #5 starting pitcher, our pitching is even going to suck this year. Woe is me - woe is me - woe is me - these guys are screwing up my merry Christmas -- lol
  19. Oh ok - good one - you got me.
  20. I think you read my posts (although I'm not sure why anyone would sometimes). I've repetitively said that I'm for hanging on to Sale and Betts for sure but as for the rest, nope not losing sleep over any of them who choose to move on . With that being said, i also have said that I do have high hopes for both Devers and Benintendi but I'm not ready to anoint them as anything special either just yet.
  21. Yes I believe it can and will be able to adequately replace most of our current crop of everyday players. Probably because I just don't think that our current crop is all that good. Ultimately, because I truly do not think that the majority of our everyday players are anything special, it will come right down to the pitching as it quite often does anyway.
  22. That is what I'm talking about Notin. You see you do get it. We have a GM who doesn't feel obligated to let his fan base in on every little injury, prospective signing, or other types of day to day stuff thus we must not have a GM. What forever shall we do?
  23. Sale - Betts - maybe Benintendi and Devers - I'll bet that we will be able to afford them.
  24. every other ml team has a pitching staff with between 7 and 10 healthy starters. Most of them were probably developed in their own minor league systems. a pox uno the boston Red Sox. doesn't matter what anyone says or thinks this franchise sucks primarily because of the incredible change in philosophy that we are recently undergoing under the lack of GM leadership. (How am I doing so far Larry? lol) Our draft picks suck because we win too many games - our free agent signings always just suck. I'm betting that there can't be one other franchise that even envies the fact that we have won the east for the last two consecutive seasons.
  25. lol- Larry has spoken. We have no chance! Our entire starting pitching staff sucks.
