  1. toot toot Notin toot toot - all aboard!
  2. thank you Notin - I do understand that though believe it or not. The longer these negotiations drag on the less appeal imo Martinez will have to the real Red Sox fan. It will make no difference how well he hits either. He has to make the right choice for him and his family but he has to live with that choice as well. I think that I represent a fair number of like minded fans and I'm really ready to move away from this guy regardless of all the good things I have read about him. He has been given 125 million reasons perhaps to sign with us. If that isn't enough, so be it let him play for less in some other loser hell hole. Maybe the Mariners (Harmony) can swoop in and pony up the dough. See ya.
  3. I truly prefer players who really want to be here.
  4. We really haven't heard a great deal coming from management about the JD situation. Could be that there just isn't anything to report. Personally, based on what I have heard has been offered, if that isn't enough for Martinez and from all accounts it appears that it isn't - time to move on. He and his agent are basically holding the Red Sox hostage. It is a gross overpay in terms of what is right in the real world anyway. He does not appear to want to play for Boston badly enough for me. Over and out! These guys are all rich and most of them are spoiled. The redeeming quality is when I hear one of them talk about how special it is to play here and how much it means to them to be here.
  5. And once again - your point? There have just been so many dh's who have won that award right. Now I'll just guess at this one - maybe David sees a little of himself in Devers when he steps into the batter's box.
  6. David is on a dream crusade. Devers would at second heading to third as Papi left the box.
  7. An excellent question! Lay an answer on him Hitch. You know what mine might be due to the fact that I am a card carrying capitalist.
  8. No one outside of the parties involved really know. The suggestions by writers that I have read have been all over the place. Roughly 125 million - really - What does that even really mean. If the offer went roughly from 100 to 125 all of a sudden, that tells me that someone is trying to scoop a story before they really know what the actual facts might be. One thing all Red Sox fans here seem to agree on is that the Red Sox probably have laid out the best offer to date and that there really isn't some mystery team scheming in the weeds waiting to pounce.
  9. Not gonna budge one inch -
  10. Wow - revenue sharing guaranteeing profitability to all irrespective of what the actual product on the field looks like. That was a good read. I could go off on a wild tangent right now but I don't want Hitch to get upset with me. I'm really glad that someone in their infinite wisdom is willing to help out some of these mega rich losers though. It is the right thing to do. lol
  11. You old barrrrstad! You keep me here.
  12. an inch taller and roughy a foot wider
  13. maybe Valentin looked 5'10 because our players were bigger then
  14. I can see that. If he plays like him, I'd be pretty pleased.
  15. You got to get excited over something don't you? Can't be all about bb and fb here! I just wish Chavis was a bigger guy. He is solid but 5'10" 190 we have seen before.
  16. This is a post I wish that I had made. Chavis just seems like the flavor of the day to me. Is the infatuation with him, because he is young or what ? I don't get it. Brentz deserves a shot and honestly who knows about Barfield. I don't care at all about the age of these two guys. All the suggestions about what we should do with Chavis before we even know if he really is any good are amazing.
  17. But you think it likely I guess that the Sox offer has somehow leaked out maybe and a possible higher offer by someone else has not. Forgive me thinking that you might be just giving 'good ole' Red Sox nation a little poke here.
  18. Second base is a much more complicated position to play than many realize. You just don't as a rule throw somebody in there who has never played the position (like a Chavis) and expect much from them. Hernandez leads the list of candidates who will man the fort until Pedroia gets back.
  19. and that is sad- lol
  20. i'm with you!!!
  21. Did you check with Harmony first before you posted this Notin? I think he seems to have the inside track on the competition here.
  22. beat that drum beat that drum beat that drum - Arizona and Boston. I'm beginning to hope that he stays home . End of story and move on. Ain't going to be toronto.
  23. Say again -- Arizona and Boston
  24. Brentz and Barfield
  25. Arizona and Boston not in that order. I just heard a very refreshing interview with Jeremy Barflield up here and I have to say that a part of me is anxious to see what the likes of Jeremy and Bryce Brentz are capable of. Their recent numbers are prodigious. Players sometimes really are late bloomers regardless of what all the scouts say. 6'5" 240 works for me. These guys are worth a look. I realize that they are not the flavor of the day - oh well. They are hungry and they want to play and they aren't miniature versions of athletes.
