  1. And in a year that he was about to be a free agent. It is a devastating injury. Very sad - he was having a great year.
  2. You actually might be right. Some bottom feeder organization may just get a chance to steal JD Martinez if the Red Sox move away from him. He is the one who stands to lose the most if the Red Sox decide they have waited long enough. Kind of looks like a very risky game that is being played not really for the Sox.
  3. I wish that I could have said this. It is how I feel.
  4. I'm with you all the way on this one. DD works in a field of which I am not familiar and he has to know something here that we don't. I just can't help but think that he absolutely believes that JD will sign with us. Unless he is just absolutely convinced that our current team as assembled will compete for a championship, which I really doubt he believes, I don't see any other explanation. Personally I was ready to move away from this plan yesterday.
  5. I feel your pain and I agree with you.
  6. By the way, you would be interested in the interview with Britton from the P Journal that I heard earlier. Swihart will be on the opening day roster unless he gets traded which is very doubtful. Third catcher + super sub in general. Corner infield and (gasp) maybe some outfield. You already know I'm sure that he says he is very healthy and ready to go. I think that they are very curious to see what he can do. Me too!
  7. lol!!! That is what I am trying to say and I just couldn't spit it out.
  8. Great post CP - I'm with you! Has it really come to this? In a rut and talking to myself.
  9. I'm pretty sure that neither side is going to set a deadline but my belief is that JD Martinez faces by far the greater risk here. If the Red Sox decide to move away from him (which I hope they do), and head in a different direction, he likely will be screwed. The Red Spx will still be just fine if they go for a little less power and a pitching upgrade. Martinez stands a chance to lose a lot of money.
  10. Wait - really Moon. There is no other team really looking at JD. You know that. Because of the stupidity surrounding his negotiation it is possible that he falls into someone else's lap at a cut rate price though. I'm going on record here as saying that I am absolutely ok with that.
  11. Absolutely - not interested. Bringing in a known PED user and changing the name of Yawkey Way, would seem to be the height of hypocrisy. Not going to happen.
  12. It's been about Boston and Arizona in reality all the time. Boston and Arizona repeat - I really wish that dd would go in a different direction. Let Martinez take less to stay and play where he wants to. Screw him - He is not worth the $ he seeks but none of them in reality are.
  13. I agree with you. I do not think that they have any other offer of substance and at some point it just looks to be a little too much like just good old fashioned greed to me. I would be very tempted if I were the organization to move away from him.
  14. Boston and Arizona - it is all a load of crap at this point. Hey - maybe JD is prepared to sit the season out if he isn't offered what he thinks that he is worth. Just kidding there.
  15. lol - Since the extension of the playoff season (second mini-season maybe), I bet it is getting harder and harder to find guys that can pitch effectively from late March until November. Maybe the answer is we just don't let them pitch until the first of July then take our chances.
  16. toot toot Notin toot toot - all aboard!
  17. thank you Notin - I do understand that though believe it or not. The longer these negotiations drag on the less appeal imo Martinez will have to the real Red Sox fan. It will make no difference how well he hits either. He has to make the right choice for him and his family but he has to live with that choice as well. I think that I represent a fair number of like minded fans and I'm really ready to move away from this guy regardless of all the good things I have read about him. He has been given 125 million reasons perhaps to sign with us. If that isn't enough, so be it let him play for less in some other loser hell hole. Maybe the Mariners (Harmony) can swoop in and pony up the dough. See ya.
  18. I truly prefer players who really want to be here.
  19. We really haven't heard a great deal coming from management about the JD situation. Could be that there just isn't anything to report. Personally, based on what I have heard has been offered, if that isn't enough for Martinez and from all accounts it appears that it isn't - time to move on. He and his agent are basically holding the Red Sox hostage. It is a gross overpay in terms of what is right in the real world anyway. He does not appear to want to play for Boston badly enough for me. Over and out! These guys are all rich and most of them are spoiled. The redeeming quality is when I hear one of them talk about how special it is to play here and how much it means to them to be here.
  20. And once again - your point? There have just been so many dh's who have won that award right. Now I'll just guess at this one - maybe David sees a little of himself in Devers when he steps into the batter's box.
  21. David is on a dream crusade. Devers would at second heading to third as Papi left the box.
  22. An excellent question! Lay an answer on him Hitch. You know what mine might be due to the fact that I am a card carrying capitalist.
  23. No one outside of the parties involved really know. The suggestions by writers that I have read have been all over the place. Roughly 125 million - really - What does that even really mean. If the offer went roughly from 100 to 125 all of a sudden, that tells me that someone is trying to scoop a story before they really know what the actual facts might be. One thing all Red Sox fans here seem to agree on is that the Red Sox probably have laid out the best offer to date and that there really isn't some mystery team scheming in the weeds waiting to pounce.
  24. Not gonna budge one inch -
  25. Wow - revenue sharing guaranteeing profitability to all irrespective of what the actual product on the field looks like. That was a good read. I could go off on a wild tangent right now but I don't want Hitch to get upset with me. I'm really glad that someone in their infinite wisdom is willing to help out some of these mega rich losers though. It is the right thing to do. lol
