  1. It is interesting that the guys on the field really don't seem agree with this. What I have liked so far about Cora, is that he is not robotic. I am sure that he will use every available piece of research to help him with the decisions that he will make. Now Kimmi, I do not want to argue with you or your legion of fans who support most of what you say. Hey - I respect you too with respect to some things. I like Alex as much now as when he played the game. That says something about the direction I'm coming from most of the time.
  2. I expect him to see some time in left field obviously as well and before I hit him with the tried and true analytical analysis that he really stinks out there, I'm going to reserve judgement until I actually have a chance to really watch him play.
  3. Sorry - I think that you are absolutely wrong. 2 different opinions and that is not bad. In terms of safety, something that I don't think Cora will consider when he puts his team on the field, you can throw a blanket over those two position.
  4. I agree with this. I think the major reason though is that I played and coached for so long. Coached a lot longer than played.
  5. I like your style. The glass is half full!
  6. So I'm hearing you say that you think that it would safer for him to be in the infield than to play an occasional left field. Sorry - can't agree with that one either.
  7. He could break his ankle or anything doing just about anything else. Basically, I have no problem with him playing some left field and I think that if any of you think that he will just dh for this team, you are dreaming. I do not think that he is as bad as people seem to think that he is. He will get a chance to prove me wrong.
  8. I think that JD if given the chance to play some left field will prove that he is better than most people think he is out there.
  9. I think that he has looked pretty good. Just not good enough for this team. I wish that he a contract that might make him tradeable.
  10. It is always and will always be a great discussion - the old batting order. I 'm still going to go with this overall perspective - Sale, Hanley and probably every other hitter on this team has had something to say about what it will mean for them to have JD in the middle of the lineup. Better pitches for them. Less pressure and less anxiety - they get to relax just a little.
  11. I don't even know what that is. How about that.
  12. lol - ok that really was a mistake. When I noticed it, it actually was a little too late to edit I think. i really didn't do that on purpose. sorry about that.
  13. Fascination versus simply cheering for someone - big difference. Many of us have been talking hitting, a need that does not look like such a need all of a sudden. Now it kind of looks like the whine turns to the pitching staff. Lest we forget though notin, Johnson just turned 28 and you know what you think of all old guys. Brian Johnson certainly has never fascinated me anymore than either Brentz or Barfield have. I think he has a good chance of making this team in one fashion or another- spot starter, long relief. In his case, it is about is health and not his sort of slow fastball. He knows how to pitch and how to get people out. If he makes it, it will be another very good story that we should cheer about.
  14. I think Bullhorn gets up earlier than most of us as well. He might be in a different time Zone! lol
  15. Elias might be in the mix as well.
  16. thanks - I really hope Swihart keeps right on moving. He looks like he is in excellent shape and very confident. He could make a push for a number of different spots out there before it is over. As far Barfield, I think the Sox are really curious about him as well they should be. We don't see many guys come along with his size and power very often. My guess is that he is in Pawtucket and the Sox will keep a good eye on him.
  17. If Swihart continues to come along as some of us expect he might, I really hope he does not get traded. Barfield is raw but he is a real power bat. He actually can see now for a change as well. I like this young man but I have been schooled in the concept of age with respect to our professionals. I've been told that I guy this old - what is he 29 - is just too damn old. I'm pulling for him to have a good year at whatever level he winds up at - my guess would be AAA.
  18. Hey - you like the looks of your boy Blake out there?
  19. Ok - I know you have to towel off because it is just early spring training but got to say Blake Swihart might wind up being the one we are damned glad we didn't try to trade. He looks healthy, strong, and confident. Great to see!
  20. I would like to see him hit .250 but we can count on him being able to play for the most part and if we can get 20 homers and 70+ coupled with his outstanding defense, I think that he is very much worth it.
  21. lol - smart man
  22. You and me!!! My daughter and son-in-law know the Laynes pretty well. I actually she baby sat once or twice for them. A very nice family. Good for Tommy, I hope he makes it once again.
  23. Go to Harrison - Have a bite to eat at the tie up and wander around the village. Stunning!
  24. So am I hearing you say that you don't agree with Coach Cora with respect to the lefty righty thing? You stop that.
  25. I'll admit to not having the 20-15 I used to have. My arms are no longer long enough to help me read without the glasses!
