If Swihart continues to come along as some of us expect he might, I really hope he does not get traded.
Barfield is raw but he is a real power bat. He actually can see now for a change as well. I like this young man but I have been schooled in the concept of age with respect to our professionals. I've been told that I guy this old - what is he 29 - is just too damn old. I'm pulling for him to have a good year at whatever level he winds up at - my guess would be AAA.
Ok - I know you have to towel off because it is just early spring training but got to say Blake Swihart might wind up being the one we are damned glad we didn't try to trade. He looks healthy, strong, and confident. Great to see!
I would like to see him hit .250 but we can count on him being able to play for the most part and if we can get 20 homers and 70+ coupled with his outstanding defense, I think that he is very much worth it.
You and me!!! My daughter and son-in-law know the Laynes pretty well. I actually she baby sat once or twice for them. A very nice family. Good for Tommy, I hope he makes it once again.
Thought Elias looked really sharp today. Someone earlier said that they thought Holt had gained some weight. He looked pretty fit to me. As a matter of fact, they all looked pretty fit to me.
I think that I very easily could have lived in the Shenandoah Valley. It is one of the places that I have seen that may be more beautiful than this northeast.
We are just about 10* cooler in Maine than those living in the greater Boston area. Travel by car one and half to two hours south of where I am and spring is in its early stages. Up here not so much. Quite a bit of snow. Ho hum - Everybody has to be somewhere.
It might be the hardest pitch to recognize but if you have had any success at all in the bigs and you can't recognize a slider wherever it is pitched - ridiculous.
I think Swihaart will play himself on to the team. Not much trade value right now - out of options. That will force the hand of management and I am happy because I still think he has a ton of potential. Hernandez might even be done done - makes me sad. I think that it comes right down Holt and Marrero. I'm not sure that it makes much difference.
I was just trying to be nice. Kind of leads me in to the discussion of who should be left out when the team heads north. I would kind of like to see them add a good glove. You probably know where I am headed with this.
That could be true. I think that they need good years for sure from these guys. Pretty obvious what Smith could bring to the bullpen and how much he might help. I think that Devers will hit and I really hope that he fields the position well.
Ramirez at first
Nunez at Second
Devers at third
Bogaerts at short
That doesn't scream good infield defense to me. I think that Devers' progression as an infielder is very important.
