  1. I think that that is the way to go as well. What good does it do to try to read something in to a stoy that isn't there with respect to any injury. If he is really injured we'll know soon enough.
  2. I agree with you Emp. I'm not sure what ultimately happens with Swihart but the only place I have heard much about possibly trading him is on this board. I suspect he'll make the 25 man and if he stays healthy and hits he'll see playing time somewhere. They won't just give away a guy with his potential. They really don't have any major pressing needs at this time.
  3. I don't see it that way at all. One a little more positive than they other I guess but essentially the same. Give what we have on hand a shot before going out to sign someone who may or may not be an upgrade. I wonder if sometimes you might see what you want to see in other people's postings?
  4. Don't blame you at all. Never can have too much pitching. I'm really hoping that one of those guys we have gets a chance and gets it done.
  5. all good - i think that a part of me might even agree with you a little bit here although I still hope that these two moves still do work out.
  6. Looks to me as near as I can tell we separated a little chaff to get to the wheat. I like what you did here.
  7. That is your opinion and I'm sure there are people here who agree with you. I do not care what Dave did in Detroit and obviously I don't share your opinion. To date, I am very pleased with the moves he has made for our team - the Red Sox.
  8. Well you have already seen two pretty good answers so I won't bore you by saying the same thing just to make it three. As an aside though, I have never for one second felt that the overall strategy has been to go all in and then expect some ridiculous dropoff in a couple of years.
  9. Probably right but it would be one of the toughest things an athlete like him would have to figure out. My guess would be that once the season starts, he would have a hard time doing this if it was advised. Really the only way to keep him from possibly getting hurt in the field would obviously be to just dh him. I would be surprised if that happens though based on everything that we have read.
  10. I agree with you here very much. Why spend the money on another potentially over the hill pitcher. They had it once, doesn't mean that it magically comes back again. I think that some of this discussion comes from a few here who just don't like DD. I don't think that it will make any difference what he does or does not do. He seems to be an independent kind of guy. I like that.
  11. Me not advocating for what you are saying doesn't mean I necessarily disagree with this. I'm just saying give the guy a chance.
  12. Does he still have the same injury concerns that kept him from being more aggressive going after wall balls? Doesn't sound to me like he does. I don't really think that suggesting that he is wall shy at this time is fair. I'm giving him a chance.
  13. Maybe it is possible that DD feels that Johnson, Velasquez, and Elias represent better options than going after what some have referred to as "dumpster dives".
  14. Yup - I've felt this way for a while.
  15. You and i tend to see things weirdly I think!
  16. I'm sure that it has to be just me but I have always thought that the owner of this team certainly has to love the game and ownership itself but when it comes to simply baseball stuff, never thought of him as that kind of a baseball guy. I think that he has confidence in the staff that he has with DD leading the way when it comes to running the team.
  17. My oh my Moon that just is not right. lol Next thing you know you will be trying to tell me that John Henry was responsible for Sandoval's, Castillo's, and Ramirez's contract and not whats his name. John Henry is the boss after all! lol again.
  18. I read the same thing you did and my interpretation was that he wasn't surprised at all about what the metrics said. His point though is certainly worth noting.
  19. He is here now - my opinion is that he obviously values his analytical team just fine. I won't judge him on what the past says he did or didn't do.
  20. as you would say - hmm - it's only spring training. Cora says he will give them protection. I like Cora.
  21. I might have but it for sure depends on what your interest is in. You probably know as much if not more about this stuff then I do.
  22. I'm liking you being a history buff.
  23. Hey I thought he was up Canada or something.
  24. Are we unduly praising him Moon? See - I read most of the posts. lol
  25. I have 0 idea what DD might or might not know. It is possible I think that he is his own man and might not feel the same way about our pitching depth as you do.
