  1. I agree with you here very much. Why spend the money on another potentially over the hill pitcher. They had it once, doesn't mean that it magically comes back again. I think that some of this discussion comes from a few here who just don't like DD. I don't think that it will make any difference what he does or does not do. He seems to be an independent kind of guy. I like that.
  2. Me not advocating for what you are saying doesn't mean I necessarily disagree with this. I'm just saying give the guy a chance.
  3. Does he still have the same injury concerns that kept him from being more aggressive going after wall balls? Doesn't sound to me like he does. I don't really think that suggesting that he is wall shy at this time is fair. I'm giving him a chance.
  4. Maybe it is possible that DD feels that Johnson, Velasquez, and Elias represent better options than going after what some have referred to as "dumpster dives".
  5. Yup - I've felt this way for a while.
  6. You and i tend to see things weirdly I think!
  7. I'm sure that it has to be just me but I have always thought that the owner of this team certainly has to love the game and ownership itself but when it comes to simply baseball stuff, never thought of him as that kind of a baseball guy. I think that he has confidence in the staff that he has with DD leading the way when it comes to running the team.
  8. My oh my Moon that just is not right. lol Next thing you know you will be trying to tell me that John Henry was responsible for Sandoval's, Castillo's, and Ramirez's contract and not whats his name. John Henry is the boss after all! lol again.
  9. I read the same thing you did and my interpretation was that he wasn't surprised at all about what the metrics said. His point though is certainly worth noting.
  10. He is here now - my opinion is that he obviously values his analytical team just fine. I won't judge him on what the past says he did or didn't do.
  11. as you would say - hmm - it's only spring training. Cora says he will give them protection. I like Cora.
  12. I might have but it for sure depends on what your interest is in. You probably know as much if not more about this stuff then I do.
  13. I'm liking you being a history buff.
  14. Hey I thought he was up Canada or something.
  15. Are we unduly praising him Moon? See - I read most of the posts. lol
  16. I have 0 idea what DD might or might not know. It is possible I think that he is his own man and might not feel the same way about our pitching depth as you do.
  17. I don't think that I give him too much credit. I honestly think that the items being whined about here are things that he is considering and trying to address. It doesn't take a great deal of intellect to recognize the needs of this team limited as they might be. I suppose that it is possible that with respect to adding starting pitching which seems to be the big bitch these days that he feels that our current in house guys might be as good as any that are affordable elsewhere.
  18. Why are you not convinced that he is not leading the way with respect leading to more analytics? Do you think that he is opposed to it? I certainly don't.
  19. Maybe the masses wasn't an appropriate term to use but recently it just seems to me that it has been open season on Dombrowski here by a few regular posters ( not you - I wish that I didn't have to say that). I think that he indeed has a plan whatever it might be, and that to date he has done a great job. There have been very few people who have responded to what the organization led by DD has done with respect to analytics. When it comes to the Sox, my glass is always half full and I just don't get the criticism of every little move that is made. Once again not you but there seem to be people here who always find something to bitch and cry about. Honestly I think their egos tell them that they could do a better job than him which I think is ridiculous.
  20. i'm glad that you read it and thought that you might be thrilled.
  21. It would be worth a read by anyone to go to the Red Sox homepage and read the article written by Ian Browne about Martinez's defense and how he sees himself. I like JD more and more and am anxious for him to get to show people that he really isn't that bad regardless of what the analytics say. He has a lot of pride knows that he will be primarily a dh here but wants to be in that outfield from time to time as well.
  22. you know i agree with you
  23. I'm particularly pleased that Cora understands how important it is to blend the new and the time established old to get things done. My primary point really though was to give a big thumbs up to DD. He still leads the way and is doing an excellent job. Maybe it was the wrong thread - oh well.
  24. I'm not concerned with Mookie but I would like to see him get a hit.
  25. Good to see you posted this Moon but not a positive comment to go along with it? I thought that this would thrill the masses.
