  1. I don't think that I give him too much credit. I honestly think that the items being whined about here are things that he is considering and trying to address. It doesn't take a great deal of intellect to recognize the needs of this team limited as they might be. I suppose that it is possible that with respect to adding starting pitching which seems to be the big bitch these days that he feels that our current in house guys might be as good as any that are affordable elsewhere.
  2. Why are you not convinced that he is not leading the way with respect leading to more analytics? Do you think that he is opposed to it? I certainly don't.
  3. Maybe the masses wasn't an appropriate term to use but recently it just seems to me that it has been open season on Dombrowski here by a few regular posters ( not you - I wish that I didn't have to say that). I think that he indeed has a plan whatever it might be, and that to date he has done a great job. There have been very few people who have responded to what the organization led by DD has done with respect to analytics. When it comes to the Sox, my glass is always half full and I just don't get the criticism of every little move that is made. Once again not you but there seem to be people here who always find something to bitch and cry about. Honestly I think their egos tell them that they could do a better job than him which I think is ridiculous.
  4. i'm glad that you read it and thought that you might be thrilled.
  5. It would be worth a read by anyone to go to the Red Sox homepage and read the article written by Ian Browne about Martinez's defense and how he sees himself. I like JD more and more and am anxious for him to get to show people that he really isn't that bad regardless of what the analytics say. He has a lot of pride knows that he will be primarily a dh here but wants to be in that outfield from time to time as well.
  6. you know i agree with you
  7. I'm particularly pleased that Cora understands how important it is to blend the new and the time established old to get things done. My primary point really though was to give a big thumbs up to DD. He still leads the way and is doing an excellent job. Maybe it was the wrong thread - oh well.
  8. I'm not concerned with Mookie but I would like to see him get a hit.
  9. Good to see you posted this Moon but not a positive comment to go along with it? I thought that this would thrill the masses.
  10. I'm chuckling as I read many of these posts. DD gets beat up pretty badly here by some of you folks. Message is that he won't win with you. If his plan is not exactly what you want him to do, you aren't happy. Too bad! I'm pretty sure that he knows exactly what he is doing. You really don't think that he isn't scouring the landscape for potential veteran pitchers who might help us? I thought that at the least he would get some big shoutouts for adding to the analytics team. Not a word. He is a professional who is doing an excellent job.
  11. I don't really see the correlation between Clay and Bryce. Just me. I know that you can not be talking about me anyway because I don't remember saying much negative about the Bucksnort other than I think he might be a numbskull. I also don't think in anyone's case it is a matter of forgiving anyone for anything. I think that there are plenty of people here who have just seen enough of the Clay act and want to turn the page and move on. Good luck to both and i also am sure that others share that sentiment.
  12. Taters and Flies
  13. And if he doesn't like the information that he receives, he can get a second opinion from Mr. Steamer.
  14. That's why he is better.
  15. yup - I can see that after reading what I wrote. Must have been having one of those senior moments I have from tim to time I guess.
  16. Why do you think that I would disagree with Cora or any coach passing on any type of information to a player that might help him? i like it very much. I like the fact though that he seems to see the game from all different perspectives.
  17. Do you think that I disagree with this? I'm sorry if you do. It would be wrong. I think that I have been very clear that I believe in using every bit of available information to help create a winning program. I have never said that you absolutely feel that it has to be one way or the other. You might tend to lean one way - I might tend to lean a different way don't you think? It's all good.
  18. Like I said earlier - beat down but not beaten - I guess that I would kind of expect it from a very bright man who I think continues to be the greatest hitter of all time. I do not think that are an abundance of players who cold do what he could do mentally. But I get it here- raising the white flag. An overload of information quite often for the average human is not good. KISS
  19. To answer your first question, yes in a way I do. I'v known a lot of very bright athletes who believe in all kinds of things that I might not think are for real but most are pretty harmless. I agree with you although I really don't know about the number of smart players out there.
  20. No - Kimmi has not said that. She has said numerous times that she believes in the fact that there are some things that are just unmeasurable at work as well. I really wasn't trying to take a direct shot at anybody. Just defending my point of view which is a minority opinion here. Kim and I agree on many things relating to baseball.
  21. OH I'm sure that you are right. It's a brave new world. My guess and that is all it is, is that someone else (manager) is passing the information on to the players. Until it can be proven to me that a majority of the people actually playing the game are studying up hard on all things statistical, I'm going to continue to believe that a clear majority of them still embrace the KISS principle. My opinion is that there are people out there doing all of the data collection who truly want to play a large helpful role with respect to an age old game. I also believe that information overload can be a bad thing as well.
  22. It is likely that you will be proven right here. I 'm really glad that none of these guys are going to be much more than small role players on this team. I think that Swihart might play a big role though.
  23. lol - my guess is that you might get beat down on occasion but rarely beaten. No ban for you. Great opinions and insights - keep them coming.
  24. The game of baseball is a beautiful game filled with all kinds of strategy that the average player could give two big shits about. The brainiacs as you like to call them seem to be out in force trying paint lipstick on the pig here. Best of luck to any manager who tries to convince these guys that what fangraphs has to say about them daily has any significance what so ever! Gets a big f***ing lol from me Spud but remember I am one of the old fools.
