  1. Yes, it's baffling that no one has signed him. Wish we would.
  2. Yes, his willingness to take a walk is a big difference-maker. Hard not to be excited about this guy.
  3. Within limits, of course.
  4. Plus a .396 OBP in spring games.
  5. "Generating more heat than light" - I've never heard this before, but it's a good one.
  6. Moises was the fielder on the infamous Bartman play.
  7. When I thought of this, I made a list of all the blood relatives I could think of, from every team. I tried to do it without looking any of them up, unless it was to verify if someone ever played in a major league game. To qualify, you only need to have played in one. Then I realized that if I put up the whole list it would be kind of hogging the thread. So instead I'll just give my list that includes at least one Red Sox player. Fathers and sons, and brothers, obviously. We also have to include grandfathers and sons, for the sake of a certain Red Sox Hall of Famer. Cousins? I think there have been a few, but I couldn't think of them. Anyway, sure, why not. Dom DiMaggio - Joe DiMaggio (HOF) Ken Brett - George Brett (HOF) Carl Yastrzemski (HOF) - Mike Yastrzemski Tony Conigliaro - Billy Conigliaro - played on team at same time Dante Bichette - Bo Bichette Pedro Martinez (HOF) - Ramon Martinez - played on team at same time Jeremy Giambi - Jason Giambi JD Drew - Stephen Drew - both played on Red Sox Daniel Bard - Luke Bard One I had to look up was Papelbon. I wasn't sure if Josh ever pitched in the majors. I found out he didn't. I also found out there was another brother, Jeremy who pitched in the minors.
  8. Apparently Cora was asked by Massarotti what happened to Beni between 2018 and 2019, that was what prompted this answer. I don't think he was bad-mouthing Beni, just giving his take on the weight gain.
  9. I'd rather have them both.
  10. If Sale looked like his normal self at the end of 2018, most would have loved the extension. Injury worries tend to dampen enthusiasm. And some of it is 20/20 hindsight, methinks.
  11. Sale's deferred money knocked the present value down to 128 mill. That makes it pretty similar.
  12. The saddest words of tongue and pen - "What might have been."
  13. I predict the name change pays off for Thaddeus.
  14. His Recency Effect is strongly favorable, though, with 203 innings in 2019.
  15. I liked the Eovaldi signing at the time, and I'm not going to back off that now. He pitched at a pretty high level in the 2018 regular season as well as the postseason. Heck, even Kimmi liked the signing, except she thought it was one year too long. The guy has top shelf talent. Obviously the injury concerns are very real.
  16. Interesting because I thought it was reported that the team suggested the bulk up.
  17. Some fine pitching tonight, folks. Eovaldi, Sawamura, Ottavino and Taylor combined for a 4 hit shutout. It was only the Orioles, but still.
  18. This all started with notin suggesting that Sale signed a below market contract, he called it a 'Suspected Injury Discount'. Then we were off to the races LOL. But I don't anyone said they knew for sure he was injured. More like factoring the risk of injury into the deal.
  19. Let's put it this way: if they really weren't worried about his health, maybe they should have been. I think even Sale himself said that his whole career he's had the threat of TJ surgery hanging over him. He's been kind of an obvious candidate because of his build, his motion and how hard he throws.
  20. But you're the one who said he's a great pitcher, even though he's never won more than 17 games.
  21. $145 mill, Nick, not $245 mill.
  22. I think there's a poster here who has it in their signature line.
  23. Semantics? You said last place. You are too much sometimes.
