    I hope the same thing that allegedly happened to Cole in his last start, per Donaldson, didn't also happen to Martin Perez last night.

    I think it might go back to 2011, when Texas and St. Louis were in the World Series, and both relied heavily on their pens. You can see it in the game logs for that World Series. I think Texas really stacked their pen at the deadline that year.

    He only became the closer in June or July, that's why the save numbers weren't so high.

    They lost a second-round draft pick too, I think, but we get off pretty lightly, so not hammered.

    Even that is debatable. Every team has guys who are not going to end up at 3 WAR or more. Kike should end up around 2, which would make him an MLB average player.

    I think in all my time as a Sox fan, the only late inning reliever who consistently gave no white knuckles for a long period was 2013 Koji.

    Saying Bloom is 4 for 7 or whatever doesn't really work. Our W-L record and quality of play is much better than expected. He turned the team around in a hurry. Fantastic job.

    And Marwin is capable of delivering some timely hits. Just ask the Yankees.

    Whitlock has been a special case from Day One with his Rule 5 status and the injury concerns. The fact he's still pitching so well says to me they're handling him well. This guy could be a big part of our staff for a while.

    Sonny Gray said they changed his pitch mix and it messed him up.

    That 2018 team was so awesome that we brought them all back in 2019 to do it all over again, and what the heck happened?

    The Yankees had guys like Sonny Gray and Lance Lynn, gave up on them, now they're pitching well elsewhere. Something just isn't working in the Yankees analytical and coaching departments.

    Sheer desperation. Odor has been playing at replacement level or less for 4-5 years. So bad that the Rangers couldn't even use him.

    It certainly looks like they shelved that idea temporarily at least. Maybe partly because we've been lucky enough so far not to need a #6 starter. And now Sale is on the horizon. Last night's usage made perfect sense, because he pitched 1.2 innings Saturday.

    I don't believe the playoffs are a total crap shoot either. But a lot of unpredictable stuff happens. Last year the Dodgers were clearly the best team and the champs. But they were on the verge of losing to Atlanta, down 3 games to 1.

    What he does is annoying. You're enjoying the game and how well the team is playing, and all of a sudden one of Ghost's foolish 'Dump whoever' threads pops up. He's an unfunny clown.

    If we really want to play the game to the extreme, Eovaldi's great performance in Game 3 didn't really affect a thing. We lost the game, and simply would have lost it quicker. You're right that the 2018 team was awesome. The only real issue is that the playoffs are short series where just about anything can happen.
