  1. So obviously you think Judge should be leading off for the Yankees.
  2. That's a hefty BAbip in May! Looks like April should be .246, though.
  3. His K/BB and FIP are both good. I'm starting to wonder if some of these peripherals should be chucked out the window, though...
  4. Yeah, it's quite possible we're chasing a second wild card spot. Which I would take.
  5. He might be simply suffering the effects of fatigue that we were all warned about.
  6. Mookie missed Saturday's game for a scheduled rest day, and yesterday's game due to shoulder soreness. That makes 3 different injury issues he's had already this season.
  7. Cora explained his reasons. Not that it will change anyone's mind.
  8. None for a long time though. The last Canadian team to win the Cup was Montreal in 1993. That's crazy.
  9. Beni's current numbers are thoroughly mediocre.
  10. Very impressive. Now I must point out that in 2009, Tom Watson only needed a par on the last hole to win The Open, at age 59.
  11. And then the White Sox also walk in the winning run. A day that shall live in bullpen infamy.
  12. It's hard to have a more embarrassing loss than the Jays had against the Rays today. Ahead 4-3 with 2 on and 2 out in the 9th, Jays relievers incredibly walked 4 in a row for a 6-4 loss.
  13. Just reading about that home run by Williams. Because the seat is about 30 feet above field level, it has been determined that the true distance was 530 feet. Also, the baseballs being used can make a big difference.
  14. Cole has no rings. Cole did not beat the Rays in Game 5 last year. Sale was only a minor factor in the 2018 postseason. All these rules are made to be broken.
  15. Cherington picked Farrell. Dombrowski picked Cora. Bloom picked Roenicke and Cora. These decisions are within their province. It's very simple. Henry can fire the head of ops whenever he wants, we all know that.
  16. Yes, Booby V was the exception. The kind that surely persuaded ownership to stay out of managerial picks henceforth.
  17. It probably looks worse on TV than in person.
  18. LOL many fans only pay attention to the guys who are actually playing in the bigs right now.
  19. Absolute nonsense. It's common practice to let the head of ops choose the manager. Cherington wanted Farrell. Dombrowski wanted Cora.
  20. In this offseason's managerial search, there were stories that ownership was highly in favor of bringing Cora back. Then Sam Kennedy made an explicit statement that the call was going to be Bloom's. And from all reports Bloom had a number of intense conversations with Cora before deciding to hire him. Bloom is getting to make plenty of calls, I believe. The direction from Henry is mostly budget parameters, I believe. And of course Henry knows what's going on. There's a big difference between that and making the calls.
  21. What Elktonnick seems to be suggesting is that Henry and Werner are in the mood to make a splash, especially after the soccer fiasco. But they didn't hire Bloom to make expensive splashes, certainly not this year anyway.
  22. This all started with the question of who makes the call on whether we're buyers or sellers at the deadline. Generally that is dictated by the circumstances at the time. Also generally, it doesn't involve big outlays of cash because what you're buying is tail ends of contracts, and what you're paying with is prospects. I believe Henry would leave most of this in Bloom's hands, yes.
  23. The Jays starting pitching is a big question mark for sure.
  24. Other pitchers have gotten more and done worse, too, of course, so that statement doesn't mean a whole lot. FanGraphs says he has earned $19 million on this deal so far. His AAV to date is about $29 million ($17 + $7 + $5). So he's in the mild bust zone with 1.7 years left to go.
