  1. But if he's right about Rocker dropping there must be a reason.
  2. Correct. I'll include all games post no-no.
  3. I'm going to compile the stats on guys who have thrown no-hitters this year, post no-no.
  4. That start by Lee isn't necessarily a kiss of death, of course. Moncada's big league start was similar.
  5. Not a savior, just an uptick.
  6. That's a fair point. Sometimes pitchers are cruising like that and suddenly lose it, though.
  7. Yeah, that's a pretty comfortable total.
  8. You'll have to take that up with Denny.
  9. Ort was another swipe from the Yankees. This would be cool.
  10. Sometimes throwing a no-hitter is not the best thing for a pitcher because they get overextended. I think the stats for 2021 will back that up. I see that Means was way off last night. Full credit to Kluber though, he's really stepping up. Yankees pitching is formidable for sure.
  11. Reminiscent of the Gioloto game.
  12. Loathsome though he may be, Schilling is the best postseason pitcher in history.
  13. Probably a good chance we see both of our Garretts tonight.
  14. Hey, you left out BABIP.
  15. Now that I don't think anyone cares about.
  16. FIP is just another stat to throw into the mix. By definition it excludes balls in play. With regard to your point about fielding errors by the pitcher, ERA is meant to measure pitching performance only, not fielding. ERA is flawed for many reasons, of course.
  17. The rationale behind it is that the defense has to do its job. By the same token, if you hit a routine two hopper to shortstop, why should you get on base? But sometimes the shortstop flubs it. Also, with the dropped third strike, the hitter still gets charged with a K.
  18. The funny thing is, though, that we tend to determine if it was 'good pitching' after the fact.
  19. And Workman, who pitched an inning for WooSox last night.
  20. Who knows? Maybe it would have been the perfect time to extend him. Or maybe that ship has sailed forever. All in Bloom's hands.

    LaRussa

Strange hiring, but the White Sox are statistically the best team in baseball right now.
  22. According to Alex Speier, Santana will be called up as early as this weekend.
  23. Duran has 5 dingers in 13 games. Plus an OBP of .390, with 9 walks. Couldn't ask for a much more impressive start by the kid.
