  1. I blame Bloom and Cora for this 31-20 record.
  2. It's Six Innings and a Rainstorm Week at Fenway.
  3. Yes, any comments about Trout's contract being bad for the Angels are completely off the mark.
  4. Yeah, the North Atlantic Ocean is a pain in the ass. Here in Halifax we generally get Boston's weather the next day, only colder.
  5. And more recently they managed to scrape up $245 million for Rendon.
  6. For some reason Cot's shows Mookie's AAV as the full $30.42 million AAV with no adjustment for deferred money, but Spotrac shows it as $25.55 million with the adjustment. https://www.spotrac.com/mlb/los-angeles-dodgers/payroll/
  7. Sanchez, Hicks, Voit also under .200. Never thought I'd see a Yankees offense like this one.
  8. Countering 320 to an ask of 420 was arguably a waste of time. It's quite possible, of course, that Henry got pissed off by Mookie's ask, and said 'Let's talk to Sale and Bogaerts'.
  9. Yes, we all know that. In this case I assume they didn't want to go that high. Maybe their ceiling was $325 or $330.
  10. The puzzling thing is that what Mookie actually agreed to was a present value of 307 mill for 12 years.
  11. The 420 mill stopped them in their tracks for some reason. It's like they interpreted it as a message that Mookie wanted to either go to free agency or to be paid more than they wanted to pay.
  12. As far as we know, Mookie wanted 420 mill from the Sox. Maybe if he had come back and said 12/365 would be fine, they would have done it.
  13. Hitting major league pitching is really hard, and it's only getting harder. I think one of the Jays announcers said there are now over 100 MLB pitchers averaging 96 and up on their fastball.
  14. As good as Mookie is, 10 year + contracts are flat out nuts. -Mookie has already missed time this year for no less than 3 different injuries. Not much time altogether, but maybe those injuries are affecting him at the plate. -Trout is on the shelf for a while. Who knows if this is the start of long-term injury issues for him? -Lindor currently boasts an OPS of .565.
  15. Voit is another of those muscular guys that Cash seems to love and that has a lot of trouble staying on the field.
  16. I should add, Brad Marchand was born even closer to me than Crosby was.
  17. oldtimer, you're certainly entitled to differ with management, but you seem to be really frustrated, which I don't quite understand. It seems to me you couldn't ask for more savvy guys than Bloom and Cora running things.
  18. Mookie is definitely 'scuffling', by his standards. At .247 and .792 after last night's game.
  19. So it was well played, then.
  20. Now you're dissing my hometown hero. Sid has 3 rings, that's not so bad.
  21. I went to bed unsure if the game was over or not. Over the years they have resumed play after some crazy long delays at Fenway!
  22. Our pitching is about #10 out of 30 in MLB. That's about as good as you can expect with our staff.
  23. Weather forecasts are generally pretty damn accurate. When I looked at the forecast last night I figured the rain was going to start right around the 6th or 7th inning.
