He's a complete player who has won games every way you can on a field. You don't find many of those.

I've been thinking about this. I believe that Cora strongly wants our 4 studs hitting in a row. But he doesn't like the idea of them hitting 1-4, because that makes the lineup even more top-heavy than it is now. The problem is that we don't have a suitable leadoff hitter. Verdugo could be one, sure, but Cora may be right that's he an even better #2 hitter.

It was great work by Bloom, I think we can say that already. There were some who thought we might not get back a huge package because it was only one year of control at a cost of 27 million. It was a salary dump.

I don't know. But some athletes are unique, I think, and Mookie may be one of them. He's got the exceptional quick twitch muscles. He bowls 300 games. He can throw a baseball 300 feet or whatever it was. I would not *bet* against him.

Is there really any such thing as a premier "Swiss army knife" pitcher, other than over a short period of time? Whitlock's usage in that capacity this year has been dictated by other factors.

The Red Sox have taken the opposite direction, canning Ben and Dave while retaining their managers. But with the Yankees, if Cashman ever goes, I'm sure it would be a total housecleaning. Cynical Yankee fans think Cashman has a job as long as the team stays profitable.

Yes, it's kind of ironic that MLB is suddenly freaking out about pitchers doctoring the baseballs, when they've been doing it themselves. Did they stop to think that maybe it's the change in the 2021 baseballs that is causing the issue, rather than pitchers making a sudden change?

Jennings did say "The spin rate data supports the assertion", but the assertion he was referring to was one by Martin Perez that it's not the sticky stuff. The data presented by Jennings shows that there hasn't been any clear correlation with drops in spin rates.
