    Or, they didn't think losing Beni was going to be a big factor in whether we were competitive or not. Having seen Bloom in action now, I think he figured there was a good chance we WOULD BE competitive.

    Agreed. I think the cost and control factors were big too. Beni is cheap this year, but if he has a good season, he'll likely get a healthy raise in his final arb year, and then he's a free agent.

    Here's an exchange from a Yankee forum that cracked me up. Poster 1: The Yankees still don't have a Major League CFer. Poster 2: Remember when they ran Shane Robinson out there in RF for 25 games and we were like, this has to be rock bottom? They were just stopping to change drill bits.

    Coincidentally, Kazmir just got released by the Giants.

    I vaguely remember the Kazmir deal. I know there was some very negative reaction to it. So that's one extremely rare example, out of all the transactions over the years.

    No, they were 54-53 when they traded Archer. They ended up winning 90 games but missed the playoffs. You're looking at the wrong year.
