  1. And for some perspective on that, Dalbec's 2021 K/H is 1.6, so less than half as bad...
  2. True, but the buzz is a little dampened when the Sox have stunk since the deadline and the Rays and Yankees have been rolling.
  3. 2 runs in 6 innings vs. the highest scoring offense in MLB, I think we'll take it. He hasn't had a bad start yet in 4 times out.
  4. Whitlock, Stock and Barrel
  5. Nobody expected Bloom to get Kimbrel, I don't think. We were hoping for a Bloom-esque under the radar type.
  6. What more than adequate defenders are you talking about?
  7. I suppose it should also be noted that one of the splashiest deadline moves-the Yankees getting Gallo-has been a disaster so far. Gallo has 51 K's and 15 hits for the Yankees. You have to really let those numbers sink in to appreciate how incredibly bad they are.
  8. One thing is pretty certain - no matter what moves were made, the best case scenario was a Wild Card game.
  9. Yeah, it used to be the Yankees creating that pressure. Now it's the amazing Rays...
  10. In fact, with the COVID disaster, the best thing now might be to put Sale on the phantom DL, go full clown show and move up a few spots in next year's draft...
  11. To me the big question now about 2022 and beyond has more to do with if we'll ever catch up to the Rays again...
  12. In 20/20 hindsight, it doesn't matter about Robles and Davis, and hanging onto the money and the prospects was better.
  13. Not sure what that has to do with anything. I'm happy with the way he's looked, but being 3-0 is a product of facing Baltimore, Texas and Minny, and getting 34 runs worth of support.
  14. I read it more as "trade Vazquez and Xander".
  15. I figured as much.
  16. Well, at least we didn't trade for Kimbrel.
  17. And put on the COVID list Thursday.
  18. My expectations are so low right now...
  19. I see no reason to think we'll be sweeping any M's. In their park? Have we even done that at the best of times?
  20. Dalbec has been doing pretty well at the plate lately. He's been hitting righties and taking more walks. Which suggests he's been listening to the coaches and improving his approach.
  21. I think mvp is right, Dalbec is probably a DH going forward.
  22. Bottom line: Sox and Yankees are both sucking the fumes of the far superior Rays.
  23. He does have a 109 OPS+ in 132 major league games though.
  24. Dime a dozen!
  25. Richards for closer, Valdez for setup. Done.
