  1. The only near certain wins are Baltimore.
  2. They're toast, Denny. They've been bad for a month and a half. No pitching help at the deadline. Bullpen is in shambles. Fundamentals and defense are atrocious. At least 5 guys out with COVID. Have to play the Rays 6 more times in the next 9 days. It was a good run while it lasted. That Dog Days thing doesn't make much sense, anyway, since everyone else has to go through them too.
  3. They obviously have a system that is leaving everyone else's in the dust.
  4. You should at least get a coupon for a beer or something.
  5. That's one way to put it LOL
  6. Hey, I can outdo your negativity easily. I don't think we're looking very good to even make it to the Wild Card game.
  7. And Xander's deal was arguably well below market. That's why we're worried about the opt out.
  8. The only problem is that Davis seems to be a below replacement level pitcher. Can you see anything hopeful in his numbers? I'm stumped.
  9. Yes Mr. Sanguine. We were 4.5 games ahead of these Rays on July 5 and now we are 9 games behind them. Move on, indeed.
  10. Why do you say that? Haven't heard anything.
  11. Have to disagree. When the extension was announced, people either said it was cheaper than expected or it was fair. And of course he pitched great in the first half. No one saw such a meltdown coming.
  12. This COVID outbreak gives me a very bad feeling. Especially since the Red Sox are reportedly one of the teams in MLB not to reach the 85% vaccinated protocol. Also not good that we have to play the Rays 6 more times. Getting into that Wild Card game is going to be tough. The A's are only 1 back of us in the loss column.
  13. Pretty hard to see much upside on Robles and Davis though. And the fact the deals weren't even known about until the last minute suggests Bloom was running around the flea market looking for anything that was left at closing time. Look, I like Bloom a lot, but like every other exec we've had, sometimes he has to take some heat too.
  14. Thank God Ohtani didn't sign with the Yankees. One shudders to think of the numbers he would post for them.
  15. I mean Michigan J. Frog of One Froggy Evening, probably the greatest cartoon ever made.
  16. So in the last few weeks we've had Verdugo on paternity leave, Renfroe on bereavement leave and Kike and Arroyo out with COVID.
  17. He's in the Singing Frog Club, with Cordero and Munoz.
  18. Chafin and Tepera definitely look like misses.
  19. It appears that the change is there are no more trades after July. In the past we saw some big trades like the Red Sox-Dodgers trade in 2012. Now it's just outright releases that can be claimed?
  20. And one more thing: stay the heck away from the Talksox game thread.
  21. I checked it out. They didn't ignore it. The only issue is that they are showing 1.5 years of control left - suggesting the values are only updated every half-season.
  22. I'm guessing that trade value for Bogey does not take his opt-out into account.
