  1. You're not really basing this on anything but old school beliefs. Rafaela has a bWAR of 1.8 and an fWAR of 1.1, so he's actually been a better than average player.
  2. This is a little over the top, calling Cora a douchebag that is.
  3. We've handed out extensions to Bello, Rafaela, and Campbell, and at the present none of the 3 really make you feel comfortable they were good investments. It's quite possible Rafaela would be treated differently if it wasn't for the extension.
  4. We don't have much in the way of proven commodities. Lots of guys we've had high hopes for...
  5. That was the question with Bradley. And he reached a point where the minus of his hitting clearly outweighed the plus of the defense. Now it's the same question with Rafaela.
  6. Depends on what the coaches tell them, I assume.
  7. In theory, when it's still early, you can go from being a .500 team with hopes of getting hot, to a .500 team without the hopes...
  8. There's definitely some masochism involved in being a baseball fan. The crazy thing is how much we look forward each year to the season starting. 🙃
  9. Funny how often pinch running moves seem to come back to haunt you like this one did.
  10. Unfortunately it's multiple things. When you get the pitching you don't get the hitting and vice versa. dipre always said that's just the sign of a bad team.
  11. Definitely. This 2025 team seemed to carry some real expectations with the big name additions and the big 3 prospects, so the results are a bit more shocking to me.
  12. Personally I think it's really hard to know what all went down there. It sure looked bad. I think at the end of the day the real problem was Raffy. His absolute refusal to play first is about as selfish as it gets. It seems Cora thought the best play was to protect Raffy for the sake of his bat. It seems Breslow didn't feel the same way. It does feel like the whole episode has dragged the team down.
  13. Feels like it could get even worse than that. Starting to feel like expecting to lose, with a win a pleasant surprise.
  14. Our offense is a massive problem. The runs per game number is artificially propped up by our periodic explosions for double digits.
  15. This implies that Dave Dombrowski was somewhat of a spineless patsy in the whole affair. I think of him more highly of than that. He's moved from org to org and always been in demand, I imagine his bank account is healthy. Why would he let something get shoved down his throat?
  16. Wins Above Replacement (WAR) is a statistic used to measure a player's overall contribution to their team's wins, compared to a replacement-level player at the same position. It's a comprehensive metric that considers a player's offensive and defensive performance, positional adjustments, and league-specific factors. Here's a breakdown of how WAR is calculated: 1. Runs Above Replacement: Fielding Runs: Quantifies a player's defensive contributions, using metrics like Ultimate Zone Rating (UZR) or Defensive Runs Saved (DRS). Positional Adjustment: Accounts for the difficulty or advantage of playing a specific position, as some positions are more demanding defensively. League Adjustment: Adjusts for the league-specific conditions, such as ballpark factors, team strengths, and offensive/defensive balance. Batting Runs: Calculates the runs a player contributes through hitting, including batting average, on-base percentage, slugging percentage, and other advanced metrics. Baserunning Runs: Evaluates a player's baserunning performance, such as stolen bases and base-running errors. The whole idea is to calculate a player's total value based on the different areas of the game. That's all it is. For a lot of people it adds something to baseball discussions. It's not doing anyone any harm.
  17. An unusual situation in that Cora's dismissal was directly related to a suspension. The Sox FO swore Bloom was given free rein to choose a manager, and there were reports that Bloom and Cora had a lot of phone calls before Bloom finally decided to hire him back. I don't know the truth any more than anyone else, but we're really relying on a lot of heavy speculation here.
  18. Facts are facts. You've been banned multiple times. You're a Yankee fan. Most of your posts have to do with negative stuff about the Sox. It's not personal, I don't know you from Adam, but I know what you are as a forum poster. And you just keep proving it.
  19. Dude, you're a multiple times banned Yankee fan who is mostly here to razz the Sox and their fans. Almost all your posts contain something negative about the Sox. And yet you try to get up on a high horse. Funny stuff.
  20. Don't take it personally. He's an equal opportunity harasser.
