  1. True, but I can't help being disappointed and bored. Especially when I think of all the guys we're losing after this year.
  2. So your position is that the game was already going south and metrics just helped it on its way?
  3. If the Red Sox do nothing more this offseason it is going to be a head-scratcher. Maybe the plan is to suck, and deal Bogey, JDM, Eovaldi, Kike and Vaz at the deadline.
  4. I think there have been some adverse effects on the pleasure of the game. Cruising starting pitchers getting yanked after 50-60 pitches for a parade of relievers. Far fewer baseballs being put in play.
  5. Still swimming in money though!
  6. Dear lord, what is your new avatar?
  7. Is that what you're reducing it to? They've won about 65% of their games the last 5 seasons, been in the NLCS 4 times, been in the WS 3 times. Isn't that the promised land you were talking about?
  8. They had won the division 2 years in a row and added J. D. Martinez, so expectations were fairly high, I think.
  9. You do realize that if the trade for JBJ is what prevented Bloom from signing those two, that would make him incompetent at his job?
  10. Apples and oranges though. Everything went wrong in 2019. Can't see how that was DD's fault. It was virtually the same team that won 108 and the WS in 2018.
  11. I said incredibly fortunate to make the playoffs.
  12. The only thing I would add is that they have Berrios for a full season.
  13. I'd say it's official - the Sox are not all in on 2022.
  14. Yes, they've been one of the most interested teams this offseason. So there's that.
  15. Their interest was large, though.
  16. Suzuki seemed like a halfway sensible signing. But I guess even 5/70 is too much for us.
  17. Yay, we can at least have fun with hypotheticals.
  18. Correa will likely go back to Stros and Freeman to Dodgers.
  19. Let's not get too excited about the 2021 results though. The Pythagorean record was 88-74. They were very fortunate to win 92 and incredibly fortunate to make the playoffs. This year seems like a year to go for it a bit, with Bogey, JDM, Kike, Vaz and Eovaldi all potentially gone after the year.
  20. We could have had both, methinks. Oh well. I'm sure there are more exciting developments to come.
  21. Agreed. Another disappointment. McHugh is much better than Diekman, no?
  22. Blue Jays are acquiring Matt Chapman from A's in trade.
  23. Are the Red Sox really making a serious bid for Freeman? Or is this about as real as the rumor that we were going after Scherzer at the deadline last year? Feeling a little skeptical here. Of course, it doesn't help that the Dodgers are the reported front-runner for Freeman.
  24. I was aware he was traded. But it was a surprise that he signed a deal that big that fast. I kind of did a double-take when I saw it.
