Well, once upon a time there were starters, late inning relievers and middle relievers. The middle relievers were the guys who weren't very good and were always coming and going on a shuttle. Now middle relievers have to be good too.

Unless you lose games to the soft teams, in which case folks go totally apeshit.
-
Gold Glove awards are absolutely not fine.
-
So who are you talking about replacing?
-
Not ignored, no. But this is about compensation being based on them.
-
Nothing wrong with the way our cheap relievers have been performing.
-
You have a point there.
-
Gausman was expensive, but he has really progressed as a pitcher. I do agree it's disappointing the Sox didn't spend a little on a starter.

And the pitching metrics are so different that Rick Porcello's fWAR is 50% better than his bWAR.

Absolutely not.

I know BA has lost a lot of its gravitas, but still, .156 is kind of special.

You're trying to reason too. Anyone who would start a "thread" like this is a plain and simple idiot. -
Joey Gallo is hitting .156 as a Yankee. Cashman rocks.

You're trying to reason with an idiot. It never works.

It was the Padres that really blew it.

Yes, we're Even Steven so far. -
Valdez has even better numbers than Whitlock.
-
He's doing well at staying on the roster.
-
But he continues to defy you.
-
Valdez is a guy I think most expected to be an ex-Red Sox by now. In his tiny sample so far he's been lights-out.
-
Impressive that he was able to pitch in MLB again.
-
Hardly anyone in history has had a more impressive comeback from the depths than Bard. Good for him.
-
I go on the NYY Fans site quite a bit to read what they're saying about Cashman. I can't help myself. They crucify him on a daily basis and some of the comments are hilarious. It's great stuff.
-
Yes, there's a direct correlation between the two.
