Of course 2020 was a cluster F. No Sale, no E-Rod, no Cora, and a pandemic-shortened season. It was a perfect year to not try very hard. We got a sweet draft pick out of it. One bad 60 game season is not a cliff, no matter how many times you say it. Rebuilding is pretty much an ongoing, necessary process now anyway. Teams don't stay the same for long.

Bogaerts and Devers each played about 400 minor league games before playing in the majors. Nomar only played about 200.

It's $20M minus the value provided by JBJ. And it's Bloom's opinion of the prospects that counts. He's supposed to be able to outperform the market when it comes to valuing prospects.

Well, Bloom can't use the "luxury tax issues" and "we're gonna suck this year anyway" as reasons to trade Bogey, so that makes it different from Betts.

Why do you hate the concept of buying prospects so much? Seems like you don't like building the farm so much if it might hurt the 2022-2023 teams a little. Head-scratcher. (Just being a s**t disturber, moon.)

Others have explained that shifting against a righty is more hazardous because you don't want the first baseman that far off the bag. Which seems like a pretty good point...
