  1. Maybe they're all scary.
  2. Robles had a 3.60 ERA for us last year. Not really that bad?
  3. I wouldn't have minded a guy like Gausman for 5/110. Who are we going to go large and long on?
  4. It looks like Henry has authorized Bloom to spend up to the 230 mill mark. I think the overall strategy is all Bloom's though.
  5. That was funny, even though I know nothing about pets.com.
  6. I think there will be more moves, but nothing that's predictable. One thing Bloom did show us last year is that he stays on the job, the way he did picking up Shaw and Iggy to help us at the end.
  7. As you know, Bloom never does anything any of us have in mind.
  8. Paxton might pull an Eovaldi and get healthy, who knows. It's a funny old game.
  9. I don't know. Seager's last 4 seasons haven't been anything special either. His highest fWAR in the last 4 seasons was 3.7. Impacted by injuries obviously.
  10. But he can opt out after 2022, and undoubtedly will if he has a good season.
  11. Bloom is one disciplined dude. Hopefully his strategy pays off. I suspect there are more bits and pieces to be added. I'm EXTREMELY skeptical about Story, with so many other teams in play.
  12. A lot of it is just replacement though. When you sign as many guys to 1 year deals as Bloom does, you really have to keep busy!
  13. Maybe he WAS asking for too much, and no one would pay it, so his agent advised him to take a deal like this one. He can opt out after 2022 and try again.
  14. He seems like a reasonable Plan B. Or does he have one of those "opt-out by a certain date if not on the big team" deals?
  15. Lotsa X factors...
  16. You don't think Verdugo-Kike-JBJ is the projected opening day outfield?
  17. Hill is getting $5 mill.
  18. Isn't Story the better defensive shortstop?
  19. Bogey is in his contract year, so that may be part of it.
  20. That's what I don't know.
  21. There is a limit, a $20M, $40M and $60M line.
  22. From the article I just read, they ended up keeping the rates the same. The only change is they added a new threshold at 60 mill above the first threshold, but the article doesn't explain much about that. So the onerous rates we heard being bandied about never materialized. That helps explain why the Dodgers are still spending away.
  23. Their payroll is close to $290 million for tax purposes. I wonder how much tax that translates to? I'm not sure if they can get out of paying Bauer or not. The criminal case against him fell through.
  24. He said "in favor for trading".
  25. Who would have thought what a blessing it was that trade fell through? It ended up the Red Sox only had to pay an additional $12 million, and they passed. It was fate.
