  1. Haven't we talked a lot about how relievers are being stretched out to pitch more innings now?
  2. They've got guys they can shuttle to help out with the reduced pen number.
  3. Although he's never let up on "Flintstone Schwaber".
  4. It's not about "babying". Analytics and game planning are the culprit for the quick hooks, if you want one.
  5. That's the whole point of my question, yes. Renfroe was as good as Beni or better last year, so we didn't miss Beni.
  6. It looks that way now. But last year he sucked up until September (his OPS was .699 on Sept. 7.)
  7. It's kind of weird when you win 4-0 and people are still second-guessing the pitching moves.
  8. And if Ohtani homered off Wacha to tie it, with Diekman ready, I'm sure they would been yucking it up too.
  9. With Verdugo, Kike and Renfroe, where were you going to play Beni last year?
  10. Who had the better year last year, Beni or Renfroe?
  11. Yep. Logical stuff all the way.
  12. My argument is in the reply I posted to Jackson. It was a game situation call. Cora didn't want Wacha to face Ohtani there. Cora was treating this as a virtual must-win.
  13. Pitch counts aren't necessarily the big factor.
  14. You have to look at the specifics of the game, too. Sox ahead 2-0. Wacha is left in to face Ward and Trout for the third time each. Trout gets on and Ohtani is up with a chance to tie the game. Cora goes to the lefty.
  15. Yes, Modern Baseball Game Planning.
  16. It's just further proof of how silly the stats for saves and blown saves are. Maybe someone will start separately tracking "Blown Saves due to Manfred Man".
  17. Well, he was cooked by then.
  18. In a 39 year old who's made hundreds of millions?
  19. That evidence includes the Mets eating $40 mill to be rid of him.
  20. Manny always managed to drown out complaints about lack of hustle with his numbers.
  21. Just say no. Not only does he have the PED stigma, but he's notorious for a lack of hustle. In fact I think his last Mets hit was a single that should have been a double, but he got thrown out at second because he didn't run hard enough.
  22. We should be seeing a really good streak soon then.
  23. It's all down to the individuals. Houck is the one holdout, unless you count Crawford.
