  1. And see my edit. Devers came after 2011 but not Bogey.
  2. Bogaerts was signed in 2009. I should have said since Devers in 2013.
  3. Kopech has been scuffling lately and his fWAR is 0.9 this year.
  4. All in all, though, I think it's fair to say our farm hasn't yet produced any elite MLB players since the 2011 draft.
  5. I think Mookie's $27 mill salary made him by far the most expensive one-year rental in history.
  6. Holmes is breaking down. 8 walks in 9 innings in July.
  7. Yes, those are the key words: "at present".
  8. We only had Mookie for one more year. We also got Winckowski for Beni. You knew these things right?
  9. In his first major league game, James Outman goes 3 for 4 with a homer and double and makes only one out. How perfect is that? (Plays for the freakin' Dodgers, though.)
  10. Pure unadulterated BS. None of us "excuse makers" has ever said anything about thinking they're in the majority. Don't make stuff up. It's really annoying.
  11. I'm happy with the results of 4 championships. Can you name a team that has good results every year?
  12. Hunter Renfroe's current fWAR of 1.2 would place him 4th among Red Sox position players.
  13. It's because he represents a philosophy that some folks like. Rebuild the farm, don't get locked into a bunch of albatross contracts etc. It's a philosophy that requires patience. A lot of fans do not have that kind of patience, which I understand. It's no fun being in last place, again. I think 2023 is a huge year for Bloom.
  14. I don't see how batting him 8th and 9th resolves the negative WAR though.
  15. No, they told him they weren't going to trade him, so the no trade didn't come into it. But if they told him he was being traded to the Dodgers, you think he'd say no?
  16. I don't disagree.
  17. I'm not sure they would have brought JBJ back if they knew he was going to OPS .550 and have a negative WAR.
  18. Thanks for the clarification.
  19. The payroll is $242 million for tax purposes this year. That's the second-highest in team history after 2019. Much of that is "old spending" obviously, but that's how it works when you sign guys to big contracts. They stick around a while.
  20. And Dombrowski issued the contracts to Bogey, JDM and Eovaldi.
  21. Yes, I know all that, and that it has a lot to do with why the payroll has limits. But I have yet to hear any credible explanation for why Henry's other interests are impacting the Red Sox.
  22. Can you explain how all the expiring contracts are on Bloom?
  23. He puts up great numbers for Worcester.
  24. Okay, but all everyone is really bitching about is the spending on players. And that part doesn't take much time.
