  1. Yes, we know. You don't ask for much.
  2. "Only on here". No, that's not really true. I have a Globe subscription, and Bloom is certainly taking a lot of heat there, but he also has his supporters. It's kind of a joke when someone posts minor transactions like this one and people make a big fuss over it.
  3. Just trying to have some fun in the midst of misery, sir.
  4. Buck's great baseball mind went to sleep in the Wild Card game against the Jays a few years ago when he didn't use his closer. He's one of those guys who gets off to a great start with teams but wears out his welcome.
  5. It doesn't make sense for Cordero to be playing at all, frankly.
  6. Just don't forget that Showalter has never been in a World Series.
  7. Next year perhaps. Have to give him a real shot. Looks like this is the year to do it!
  8. Do you remember the Winkster?
  9. moon has a serious case of Ref Fever.
  10. You might need to review Beni's FanGraphs page. He's far from a great fielder or baserunner. In fact he's a minus in both. The only thing he has done well this year is hit singles. He has 3 HR and his ISO is an atrocious .078.
  11. The value of the Beni trade for us all depends on Wink, who got off to a nice start but has been scuffling bigly and now has a perfect goose egg fWAR of 0.0.
  12. Bloom is having a bad season, it's hard to dispute.
  13. Janson Junk! Angels starting pitcher who just got his first big league win.
  14. Over 2020-2022, Devers's SLG has gone up markedly while Soto's has gone down markedly.
  15. But you old schoolers usually don't think that 10-12 homers and 50-60 RBI is all that great for a guy looking for top dollar.
  16. I think Devers will be the real litmus test on that.
  17. The 4th year, 2026, is subject to a vesting option based on plate appearances in 2025.
  18. As others have pointed out, Bogey has been hitting in the 3/4 slots all year and only has 7 HR and 39 RBI. How is he one of the best in the game with lousy old school numbers like those?
  19. Nothing to be done, jad, my fellow (Samuel) Beckett fan.
  20. Playing devil's advocate about Bogey, while we all love him, he's on pace this year for 10-12 homers and 50-60 RBI and plays average defense. He turns 30 in October. Might it be a bad idea to give him a $200-250 million contract?
  21. See how much he's been posting? He's like a mosquito on meth.
