  1. There is definitely no need for that.
  2. Just a terrible break for him and us.
  3. Verdugo has at least proven he can hit major league pitching. He has a career OPS of .767. Duran has not proven he can hit major league pitching.
  4. I doubt he'll be traded. He's affordable and he's a decent player. As you say, Bloom will have plenty of other things to keep him busy.
  5. I think that's a pretty jerky stance by Merrifield. I don't care enough about my present team to get vaxed, but trade me to a contender and I will? Boy, that's real principles for ya...
  6. Brasier has more lives than a cat...
  7. This might be the year the Mariners fool us all. Every dog has his day.
  8. 580 million...Jiminy Crickets!
  9. That kind of makes Merrifield a jerk, I'd say...
  10. I don't think it's correct to say the teams choose. It comes down to the individual players. Teams can't make them do it.
  11. I don't disagree with your view. But there are those who think there should be a penalty for not being vaccinated...
  12. Out of those I'd say the only really major issue is Judge.
  13. So were the Yankees.
  14. The Jays are all vaccinated though. You can blame my Prime Minister for this debacle, I'm fine with that.
  15. Don't forget that whatever team acquires Soto will have to pay him 45-50 million over the next 2 seasons in arb salaries. And will have little hope of signing him to an extension. Only the deepest pockets need apply.
  16. The amount that Soto TURNED DOWN is MORE THAN TRIPLE what we signed Story for.
  17. Brasier or Diekman - pick your poison, Alex!
  18. I say leave him in Washington.
  19. The Red Sox are OVER the first tax threshold for 2022. They're at 241.8, the threshold is 230. Anyway, Fred Lynn is talking nonsense.
  20. Agreed on all counts. A great sequel is a pretty rare species.
  21. Yes, I was referring more to their next contracts.
  22. Bloom was also taking the chance that JBJ would have an offensive rebound, I think. That's what hasn't come to pass.
  23. JBJ is 2.3 wins BELOW REPLACEMENT LEVEL in 2021-2022, 213 games.
  24. FWIW modern managers don't seem to like having guys start to warm up "too early". So Cora didn't want Schreiber to be warming up through the 7th and then pitching the 8th. I'll have to take an agnostic stance on that myself.
