  1. Guess what, I think I'm about ready to let Refsnyder start in RF instead of JBJ every day.
  2. So your theory is that he's gotten cheap.
  3. Like I say, STORK just spews stuff and doesn't let the facts get in the way.
  4. You're right about the UZR/150 and I won't even try to understand how that relates to his overall dWAR. But in the final value summary at the bottom of the page, he has a negative defensive value every year but 2018.
  5. OK, you're one of the subscribers to the "other irons in the fire" theory. To me it doesn't make sense because like I said, all Henry really has to do for the team is say "here's the budget", "yes, I will sign that contract" or "no, I will not". It shouldn't really take up much of his time.
  6. I think JH has proven two things over and over and over: 1) He's willing to have one of the top payrolls in baseball year-in year-out and to give out big contracts. 2) He has limits. He's not willing to have the top payroll in baseball year-in year-out or to pay a lot of luxury tax. You say he can afford to purchase anything he wants. Okay, great - so why doesn't he? Why didn't he just give Mookie whatever he wanted? Why hasn't he already signed Bogey and Devers to extensions?
  7. We orginally thought Sale would be on the team for Opening Day.
  8. I'm not trying to beat DD to death. I have generally defended him. Just saying that he was the GM for the negotiations with Betts. Personally I think not keeping Betts is all on Henry. He drew a line financially.
  9. Wacha and Hill were lottery tickets, no question. I think Bloom was counting on Sale, Eovaldi, Pivetta, maybe Whitlock, maybe some of the young guys like Crawford and Winckowski, Paxton late in the year etc.
  10. Well, some people sure make it sound that way.
  11. It hasn't been a strict platoon, no. Ref plays about half the time against righties. And I'll bet Cora has his reasons every time he does.
  12. I did not know that. I thought Henry is the one who takes heat for not spending enough and Bloom is the one who takes heat for making bad moves.
  13. It's like talking to a brick wall. And he still won't say who his team is. That's spineless.
  14. If anyone is to blame for not keeping Betts, it's Henry and/or Dombrowski. Why didn't Dave sign him to an extension when he was here? Bloom is just the one who was given the dirty work of trading Mookie.
  15. When STORK starts making sense to you, it's not a good sign. The guy just spews stuff. Some is true and some is nonsense. One thing he has lambasted Bloom for is not trading for Berrios. He fails to mention that Berrios has SUCKED this year with a 5.20 ERA. He's one of those people who never lets the facts get in the way of a good story.
  16. I don't disagree. The only point is that Refsnyder can't hit righties and Cora's usage of him has been fine.
  17. It's tiresome to have to keep repeating that the Red Sox payroll for tax purposes is 242 million this year. What does it really matter what his other interests are? All he has to do for the Red Sox is set the budget and let his baseball people do the rest. I think the real bottom line, though, is this: let's revisit the spending thing next April. With so much money coming off the books and talent off the roster, they really do have to spend.
  18. Correct SPLINT, Jackass is a stalker. I may need to enter a program for people trying to abstain from responding to trolls.
  19. Pretty good answer!
  20. Duran is .727 against righties, so he's snails and buttah.
  21. I think Ref should get every available AB against lefty pitchers. His OPS against righties is .703 this year and falling. It's .602 for his career. Giving him a steady diet of righties is a good way to eliminate his usefulness altogether.
  22. Jeez man, if you consider this horrific, what does that make Pablo/Hanley/Rusney et al?
  23. It doesn't affect the 2023 tax bill. It was guaranteed money.
