  1. Under that hypothetical, sure.
  2. I prefer Paxton's $4 million price tag for this year...
  3. Anyway, we know Correa isn't in the plans. Chaim is going to spend his $40 million on 4 or 5 stocking stuffers.
  4. I don't know. Do you think signing Correa for one year at $35 or $37.5 million would be a good deal for us? It wouldn't leave much under the tax line, so there's the first problem with it.
  5. Henry and Werner are kind of like Tom Brady right now. Just because you give them immense credit for what they've done doesn't mean it isn't time for them to hang it up.
  6. One of the things.
  7. The Brewers seem to have virtually committed a crime on that one.
  8. Or accidentally stay over...
  9. But a new owner might not mind having a popular young star on the books...
  10. 340/12 might do it. But will the Sox do that? When Bloom tells us the Sox have to look at locking up talent earlier, he may also be telling us they know they missed the boat on Devers and now all they can do is wave to him from the shore.
  11. How often does that happen? Seems like if anything the price is going up in trades too. Like the Castillo trade last year.
  12. Did you look at the prospect the Brewers gave up? I read he was their #8 prospect. That's all they gave up.
  13. It's a fair question. But I can't overlook the fact that while Chaim Bloom is obviously a smart guy with good things on his resume, he's never actually run a team before this, and, well, we literally don't know yet if he knows what he's doing.
  14. Yes, but the goods have been flying off the shelves. Available talent is a finite commodity.
  15. Not really sure what you're saying.
  16. And it looks like he whiffed on a chance to get William Contreras for a relatively small cost in prospect talent. Chaim is moving in very mysterious ways. We are going to see some moves, I have little doubt about that. Whether we're going to like them, who knows.
  17. Steve Cohen has obviously decided to thumb his nose at the luxury tax and all the penalties. And when you've got as much money as he does, maybe it's the right way to go. Yes the taxes and penalties are onerous, but maybe you can outspend all that. The Sox meanwhile are trying to exercise restraint. What we all know is that if the Sox miss the playoffs again or worse, finish last in the division again, their strategy is going to be thrown into even more question than it is right now.
  18. Looks like that's exactly what they're doing. Yay.
  19. The scariest thing about our rotation/depth list as it stands? We have one pitcher - one - who pitched as many as 80 major league innings last year.
  20. More grasping at straws. Texas showed they've decided to spend big last offseason. The only unexpected thing about the Mets is that they're spending even more than expected.
  21. Bloom said he wanted to acquire a starter with "upside", "leadership" and "innings". What the hell was he talking about? Was he telegraphing that he was looking to make a trade? Or was it just another whopper?
  22. I'm not dissatisfied about that, but I'm dissatisfied we haven't acquired a single starting pitcher yet. I sincerely doubt we're in on Rodon, and the word is we're not in on Eovaldi. We seem to be down to Kluber or a trade now.
  23. The organization has the unmistakable odor of dysfunction about it.
  24. Either they were surprised by the market for Bogey and the prices, or they were lying. Based on their track record, it's pretty hard to give the benefit of the doubt any more.
  25. Either Bloom botched it, or Henry said "No, we're not paying those f**ing guys. Just keep lying, Chaim."
