And 2013 had the classic example of Shane Victorino, who exceeded expectations greatly for one year and helped win a World Series, and then was useless the last two years of his contract. -

Fans want it all. We won the WS in 2018 and fans bitched all through 2019, blaming Cora for the pitchers not being ready for the season etc. Fans never stay happy for long.

I think Bloom has a new narrative all set to go: If you're going to lock guys up, do it early or not at all. So as notin suggested earlier, we may see extension offers to Bello and Casas. -

I think what he's talking about is ownership's failure (to retain elite and popular players like Betts and Bogaerts).

This is very different from the Story signing. Turner is 38, he DH'd a lot last year, and this contract only guarantees the Red Sox have him for one year.

Agree about RF. Bloom did say he was getting a starting pitcher, so we'll see if he's a man of his word on that...

Turner will DH, can play some 1B and spell Devers at 3B. It's not a bad signing. Maybe we'll get a big finish to the offseason. One can dream.

As much as people, including me, have brought up the idea that they're punting 2023, we know that's not the actual intention, because there's no way you sign a closer for 2/32 if it is. So there will be more moves, but Bloom will continue to torture us like the Marquis de Sade for a while yet.

When you look at the MLBTR feed it's like someone is having fun with the Sox. Yesterday we had "Red Sox Interested in JD Martinez Reunion" followed shortly by "JD Martinez to Sign With Dodgers" Maybe the Sox were interested in the reunion of JD with Betts...

Bloom is great at working on the fringes... He just seems incredibly passive when it comes to the big moves.
