  1. Do you really think there are only 5-10 Red Sox fans who jabber about the payroll stuff? I think this goes on anywhere Sox fans can post their thoughts on the internet.
  2. Jansen - 2/32 = 16.
  3. Henry and Bloom are trying to be the smart guys in the room. -Let the other teams get stuck with those albatross contracts to aging players. -Lock up potential young stars much sooner. I think they will try to do this with Bello, Casas, hopefully Mayer. But will this approach generate the desired results and do Red Sox fans have the stomach for it?
  4. I know what you're saying, but they are an AL East contender year after year, aren't they?
  5. Bloom has signed two guys this offseason with AAV's higher than $14.5.
  6. So much for "competitive balance". At a certain point this ain't funny any more.
  7. Now Correa? Jeezus. If Bowie Kuhn was alive he'd probably veto this deal. Cohen has lost his mind and Manfred is probably going to have to do something about it. I'm sure that'll go well.
  8. Doesn't really tell the whole story, though, because you're leaving out the salaries that came off the books. Annual payroll and future commitments are the more meaningful spending numbers.
  9. Bellinger is a lottery ticket.
  10. I liked the Kike extension just fine.
  11. I'd say it's more like 2 down, 1 to go. If they were being aggressive in their offers to Devers it would already be done. Instead what we're hearing is "galaxies apart". I see absolutely nothing to base any hope on. I wish I could say differently.
  12. Brantley is a relative bargain, if healthy.
  13. Hope is a fine thing.
  14. Plus 90% tax. And the Mets are also looking at trading for Liam Hendriks.
  15. After Betts and Bogey, I don't know if this even qualifies as pessimism...
  16. At least we can relax about it this time, knowing exactly how it's going to turn out.
  17. Well, we might be far enough out at the deadline that trading him is a no-brainer.
  18. Frosty the Strawman Was a jolly happy soul
  19. I'm an innocent victim here.
  20. Boras being Boras.
  21. So Fire Bloom Part 2? Not a bad thing, as the other thread was becoming slow to load.
  22. "John Schreiber says hello"
  23. Maybe because another team could trade for him or claim him first? DFA's guys get traded frequently, don't they?
  24. There are about 5 qualifiers in his statement. Masterfully done.
