  1. In that situation, the best thing to hope for is that Judge hits a rocket off a bad pitch, but a Sox outfielder makes a spectacular catch to save the day.
  2. Wow, how can anyone argue with such detailed analysis.
  3. Didn't you say Bauer doesn't deserve another chance? Wouldn't that be stripping away his rights?
  4. But with all those numbers in hand, Bloom did not dispatch him until the 2022 deadline. And yes I know about the reported pursuit of Stallings. But if Vaz was that bad, Bloom should have sent him on his way regardless.
  5. That's pretty unfair. We all understand why Vaz was a backup during his short stint with the Stros. He wasn't a backup with the Red Sox.
  6. I get what you're saying, I absolutely do, and in general I agree with you. There are so many cases of men getting away with crimes, and it's infuriating. In Bauer's case, it was pretty extensively investigated, and he did have some significant consequences. The system did its job to the best of its ability, I think.
  7. The reason there were no charges is that there was insufficient evidence. The question was how much was consensual and how much wasn't. The woman who made the allegations pursued a second encounter after their first encounter. That really weakened her case. As I've already said, I hope the Red Sox have nothing to do with him, because I think the guy has a whole package of issues and there may be more trouble yet to come.
  8. Why doesn't he deserve one? No criminal charges were filed.
  9. "The guys you lost". We lost one guy who had a good season last year, one guy with an fWAR above 1.8-Bogey, and he would have cost in the high 20's to retain.
  10. The number of Debbie Downer posts on a thread about the Red Sox doing what most people have been hoping for is pretty hilarious.
  11. The more I think about it, the more the idea of trading Casas is so antithetical to what Bloom is doing that the Marlins would have to offer something stupid for it to happen. And if anything it appears the Marlins are "driving a hard bargain".
  12. Yes, I rather doubt that too.
  13. There are probably more players than we like to think who have done things many might consider immoral... Let he who is without sin cast the first stone, as the bible says.
  14. I'm not opposed to Bauer getting another chance either. I just think it's a bad risk especially for a team like the Red Sox that is already under constant scrutiny for every little thing they do.
  15. Right from virtually Day One of the allegations the Dodgers seem to have decided he would never play for them again, no matter how much of a financial loss they had to absorb. That says a lot.
  16. You also have to keep in mind that a lot of players wouldn't want him on their team, which could lead to some crap in itself.
  17. The team that acquires him might be getting a bargain. They might also be getting a circus from hell. Anyone who has done the things Bauer has done has plenty of potential to do more stupid and damaging stuff. The man has some serious issues. Who knows how he would handle it if he doesn't pitch up to his ability and fans and media are heaping abuse on him? My guess is "not well".
  18. It's all just rumors, and from what I've read it was the Marlins who asked for Casas in a trade for a pitcher. I'll be shocked if Bloom trades Casas.
  19. You'd think it wouldn't be possible, but as we can see, some folks can do it!
  20. So basically you're not going to be happy whether we sign them or let them go.
  21. a) Judge turns 31 in April. You really wanted to go higher than $360 million for him?
  22. What's the potential impact of a loss of $1 million? An unsigned pick?
  23. Boras really has his work cut out there...
  24. How much does that actually matter in real world terms - does it mean we'll have picks we can't sign?
  25. Some truly insane Red Sox fans will be following the careers of both Hoy Park and Inmer Lobo from here on out. (Yes, you're right. One might be me.)
