I actually like the deal myself, I think it spreads the risk fairly between the player and the team. If Wacha has a great season he'll cash in. If he has a lousy season he'll have to settle for a lot less.

This injury to Judge pisses me off. It's incumbent on MLB to make their playing facilities safe for players, but it's like they don't give a rat's ass. The guy makes a great catch but pays for it by smashing his foot into concrete and crashing through a fence.

We keep talking about Wacha only getting 4 years and 26 mill, but if he has a good year, he will get more, and could become a free agent again.

I might have a one-word answer for this now: "projections." Our pre-season projections were not good. I think most of them had us at around .500 or a little over. Baseball analysts didn't think we were a good team, so that tends to point the blame more toward Bloom than Cora.

Like you said, he has a big ego. I think having a winning team is good for the ego. And it can also be good for the bottom line. I think he wants it all. Just my take.

Lots of owners show that they're emotionally invested in their teams. How much Henry is, I can't say. But I think he much prefers posing with the trophy to getting booed at meet-and-greets. I think he's human.

There's just nothing to be cheerful about right now. It's June 6, we're 12 games behind the division leader and 5.5 games behind the last Wild Card spot. And the only possible improvements to look forward to are the returns of Duvall and Story. -

Why are you so sure about that? You don't think Bloom has a good shot at following in Cherington's footsteps? Cherington (arguably perhaps) did better in his 4 years.

He does, but you can't say they're great ones. Reyes is a guy the A's didn't want.
