  1. It's just a number. I keep bringing up McGuire's numbers with the Sox only because they are so staggeringly bad that maybe, just maybe, there's an issue he has had catching our staff. But if the team keeps playing him that indicates they think differently. I don't think there's much doubt that Wong has clearly established himself to be the superior catcher. And they started giving him the lion's share of the starts pretty early in the season.
  2. It's not. But there are many ways in which the catcher can make a difference.
  3. But still, 6.33 and 5.42.
  4. McGuire's definitely is.
  5. Troy gets Big Love for his Slam in 1999 Game 5 vs. Cleveland. An underrated moment.
  6. Not quite the same thing. Eovaldi is having one of his starts completely skipped.
  7. You left out Jim Ed.
  8. OK, you're just talking about the 2022 example.
  9. Hopefully the kind I like.
  10. I took my medicine on that one a while ago.
  11. Does the name Kyle Schwarber ring a bell, Chaim? Loosen up, man!
  12. He is strokin' it.
  13. Guess I need a juju refresher.
  14. Or is it bad juju to predict he'll stay healthy all year?
  15. So you're saying that if we trade a player and fans complain about it, but the guy absolutely sucks for his new team, fans will keep complaining just as much? Maybe I'm misinterpreting what you're saying, I don't know.
  16. Really? To me that was just a random blip and they've bounced back from it just the way you'd like to see.
  17. They're playing extremely well right now, that's all I can say, really. I have no idea if it will continue. It's baseball.
  18. I disagree. Fans are much more upset about not bringing back Eovaldi than they are about not bringing back Rich Hill. If Eovaldi was injured and Hill was pitching great that would flip. Fans are generally results-oriented.
  19. C'mon man, I'm giving you a chance to cement your credibility once and for all with a real time test. Are you passing?
  20. Sorry, it just sounded like the payday you spoke of was imminent.
  21. Let's put you on the spot then: How many more starts will Eovaldi and Paxton each make this season? You have to provide one number for each, no combining. Make your call and have it recorded for posterity!
  22. Murphy is our property for years, no?
  23. What some folks forget is that we also got James Loney and Jerry Sands in that trade!
  24. Modern baseball management results in some very strange decisions. People complain about Cora resting guys, but the Rangers just made the remarkable decision to skip Eovaldi's latest start to give him extra rest, and of all games to do it, they chose the first game of a series with the Astros, their main division rival. And they lost the game 10-9. Sox fans would never forgive Cora for that kind of decision.
