  1. So has all the playing!
  2. In fairness their pitching staff has also been decimated by injuries and suspensions.
  3. Right. And he's definitely struggling in August, with a .630 OPS. His last home run was on July 25.
  4. I'm just surprised you have an issue with Casas "only" starting 81 of 86 games against righty starters. That's 94% of the time. And again we're talking about a rookie who struggled early and who some had a lot of concerns about. Maybe Cora's resting policy has worked perfectly for him, because he has come on tremendously since the slow start.
  5. This thread should disappear. It's almost as bad as a political thread.
  6. a) No, I didn't say hot or cold doesn't matter. All I said is that if a guy has a scheduled rest day in the midst of a hot streak it's not a big deal. But if a guy is badly slumping obviously a day or two off can be necessary. No, I'm not going to show you why he needed the days off. What I've said is that we don't know exactly why Cora sat him but I'm confident there was a good reason. So obviously I don't necessarily have the explanation. My guess would be those 5 off days were mostly in April in May.
  7. OK, you said Casas has started 80 out of 85 vs RHP. Which 5 games didn't he start? How was he hitting at the time? He wasn't hitting much at all in April and May. Who started instead? If you're really going to dig into this you have to go all the way with it.
  8. Hitters can slump whether they're playing every day or have been rested a lot. Ted Williams said something about the difficulty of hitting, I think. But sure, let's blame it all on the manager, it's easy, it's simple.
  9. We have 6 guys to cover the 4 spots of outfield and DH: Duran Duvall Refsnyder Turner Verdugo Yoshida Pretty hard for them all to play 162, ain't it?
  10. Common sense might say you're right about the hot streak thing, but where's the data? If there's no data, it's just guesswork.
  11. It's a complaint based on nothing other than adding up games played. If the team was playing s***** such complaints would be more understandable.
  12. Nah, he's just a pussy. Keep running him out there until he's useless.
  13. Yoshida missed 4 games in April with a minor injury of some sort. But those are being included in his "rest days". Some of these complaints are really getting stupid.
  14. He's in a slump. Maybe he has a health issue we don't know about. And wasn't he out for a week or so with some issue? I guarantee Cora isn't sitting him just for the hell of it.
  15. Fornication, Firearms, Fraudsters...lots of F words to have fun with.
  16. Because we're used to pro athletes and people in general committing adultery. It's a story when you cross over from the merely immoral to the criminal. Not that I disagree with your point.
  17. Maybe governments will have to start issuing SexPasses.
  18. Is this supposed to be a complaint?
  19. Or go after the Mom instead. (Sorry, but this thread calls for idiocy.)
  20. The "strikeout" on Turner in the 4th was an all-time classic. You can see where all the pitches were on Gameday. Chumpire indeed.
  21. And as far as the hot hand/rest day thing goes, there are some flaws in the logic with that. For example, Story went 4 for 4 in his last game, but guess what, the team didn't play yesterday, so in effect he had a rest day. Wouldn't that cool him off just as much as sitting on the bench? Are we expecting the Sox not to hit tonight because they all had a rest day?
  22. 80 out of 85 is a pretty high % for a rookie who was struggling early in the season (OPS of .667 at the end of May). Plus his fielding hasn't been the greatest. Not sure why you have a beef with that. I think you'd have to do it on a game by game basis for a little better insight into why a certain player might have been sitting. And in each case I'm confident Cora would have had an explanation.
  23. I'll take Cora's opinion over a message board poster's opinion, no matter how much I might respect the poster's opinion. It's as simple as that.
