  1. Thinking more of Schwarbs, Iggy and Shaw.
  2. See above!
  3. Very solid comeback.
  4. Last 13: 461/551/1098. Totally silly OPS of 1649.
  5. I agree. A lot of doughnuts cost more than a dollar now, though.
  6. Casas has one of the most powerful home run strokes I've seen. As the old saying goes, "when he hits them, they stay hit."
  7. I do agree that trading Verdugo makes some sense. But I'm of the opinion that Bloom will be looking to add, not subtract. This is much more like the 21 deadline than the 22 deadline.
  8. But you want him to pitch well because it makes your prediction looks better.
  9. Verdugo being ice cold with the stick has to be depressing his present value a bit.
  10. You're gonna love this, notin: your guy Paul Blackbyrd pitches tonight against Chris Flexen.
  11. Warren Buffett has always said no one can time the market. I think that principle applies to baseball players equally well.
  12. STORK has 1 post since July 4, so that says a lot.
  13. Bloom signed Kike. Twice. Bloom did not sign a stopgap SS and left the door open for Kike at SS. Cora is a player's manager who gives players more than fair opportunities to play, even when they're struggling. In this case he went with Kike too long. I'd be willing to bet that he talked with Bloom a lot about the situation and Bloom was on board. That approach of being "extra patient" pays off a lot too, IMHO.
  14. Don't speak too soon. This season has a long way to go.
  15. Aside from too many starts by Kike at SS, Cora is doing a brilliant job this season IMHO. How the hell does a team with a busted rotation go 16-5 against mostly good teams? That is some good management, baby.
  16. You misspelled underwater.
  17. Does the .967 OPS in his last 10 games not work for you?
  18. We can hope so.
  19. A little light on RH hitting.
  20. That's an excellent way to end this absurd discussion.
  21. I have a new sig line that expresses my prediction.
  22. Pitchers have always shaken off catchers a lot. The idea is that if the pitcher has a lot of faith in the catcher he's more likely to go with the catcher's call. When Schilling had his near no-hitter against Oakland, he said after the game he only shook off Varitek a handful of times, and he would always regret shaking him off on the pitch that resulted in the A's first hit.
  23. I'd like to see some more information on the pitch calling thing. I know there's plenty of game planning now, but I'm dubious about the idea that every single pitch call comes from the dugout or upstairs. Also, we still see pitchers shaking off pitch calls, so they would seem to have the ultimate say...
  24. Some call him a pitcher whisperer.
