Right, I mean, have we already forgotten last year's deadline, and Bloom's stunning stealth acquisitions of Hosmer, Pham and McGuire, that helped propel us to a 25-32 record after the August 2 deadline?

I don't remember the complaints. I'm happy we unloaded Kike. But I'm also a much bigger fan of documented truth than I am of unsourced rumors.

Now that's blatantly untrue. Kike was traded after the Sox had played 100 games. Kike started 79 of those games, so 21% of the time he did not start.

At the 2021 deadline, Bloom's pitching acquisitions were Robles and Davis. As I recall we didn't find out he'd acquired them until about an hour after the deadline.

And I like Cora's attitude. OTOH I'm sure glad right now the farm produced Bello, Casas, Crawford and Duran. You can like both things, the big team and the farm, there's no law that says you have to choose.

Yes, some CBO's make major acquisitions well before the deadline. Bloom is not one of them.

Offseason trades and deadline trades are completely different animals, though. Trade from a so-called surplus (Dugo) and part of your surplus (Duvall) gets injured, that's a problem hard to fix. I think notin is probably on the right track thinking more of trading semi-scraps for a guy like Blackbyrd.
