  1. Cashman has made some horrendous moves the last few years, and he hasn't made very many good ones at all. Considering that the team has one World Series appearance since 2003, it's a wonder he still has his job.
  2. So much for the shout out, huh?
  3. Steve Cohen is The Man!
  4. When you lose and the teams you're chasing all lose - missed opportunity! When you lose and the teams you're chasing all win - f'ing disaster!
  5. Oh I know. My daughter's youth sports experiences taught me a disappointing lesson that female coaches can be just as bad as male coaches when it comes to emphasizing winning and not giving lesser players enough playing time.
  6. I think notin meant no reason to do it this early in the game.
  7. I am absolutely not sure. Hard to figure how you could factor in postseason value. Chapman was a prime example of this for the Cubs.
  8. Didn't the Reds get a pretty good haul for Castillo?
  9. Only for the mediocre! But in the big picture, there's no getting around that it's all a Zero Sum Game.
  10. Sadly it was very much in the neighborhood, since the deal with the Dodgers included a pile of deferred money, and the AAV is actually lower ($29 mill).
  11. Just to keep Talksox records in order, this was Manoah's second start since returning to the Jays. The first one on July 7 was good.
  12. At this point in time the Yankees and Jays look like the 2 most "passable" teams.
  13. BTV is a pretty pure calculation, though. It's based on projected WAR and salary, right? And it's only for 1/3 of a season. A star player might have a projected WAR of 1.5 to 2 for 1/3 of a season. What's left out of the calculation is the postseason value of the player acquired. Because that's often a big part of the equation. Like when Theo traded Torres for Chapman.
  14. You might be the only one who can answer that.
  15. Not much pressure though.
  16. Take away the gunshot and the Lincolns would have really enjoyed the play. Your cherry-picking is getting out of control.
  17. Plus the Cubs aren't even a bad team. They have a run differential of +19.
  18. And it went through the bullpen.
  19. As has been thoroughly documented, they have played better against the better teams. So your "criticism" is a tad off the mark.
  20. The 2021 Red Sox had no business beating the Rays, but they did. Upsets happen a lot.
  21. Right, so mvp's comment was a tad off the mark.
  22. Say what? They took 5 of 6 from the Jays and Rangers during this run. Also, one of the knocks on this team was not beating the bad teams.
  23. Sure they could.
