  1. We both learned something yesterday.
  2. He does seem to be progressing nicely. Maybe the Bloom Pitcher Development System is starting to really kick into gear.
  3. It's all just for fun. It's like Wins Above Felipe Lopez...
  4. Bernardino is 31 and a classic journeyman. He was signed off waivers from the M's. If he continues to pitch well he'll fall into the "nugget in the trash" category.
  5. Guess who's pitching for the As tonight?
  6. It's a statistical fact that Ortiz's postseason numbers were, on average, about 15% better than his regular season numbers, factoring in the overall decrease in offense that occurs in the postseason. The significance of that can be debated, but the factuality of it can't.
  7. Maybe a mediocre starter who is durable and keeps his team in the game...flashbacks of Paul Byrd here. Not really expecting Chaim to go blockbuster on us.
  8. It would BEHOOVE Chaim Bloom to get us a starting pitcher.
  9. The real issue with postseason numbers is sample size.
  10. Correct. There's also a team option for 2025.
  11. You're mush. My premise is simple and logical. The average postseason AB has more importance than the average regular season AB. The game situation stuff evens out.
  12. Refsnyder isn't going anywhere. He's under contract for next year.
  13. Refsnyder was 6 for 6 in steal attempts this year before that.
  14. Yeah, but that's just stating the obvious. You didn't know about the lower scoring in the postseason thing, so you learned something.
  15. Kike seems to have reached the point that no amount of D can overcome the bad O, just as happened with JBJ. The only possible value a guy like that has is as a late inning defensive replacement.
  16. Well, I'm definitely right about postseason scoring being lower, but you probably won't concede that either.
  17. And the identical principle applies in the regular season. You're not saying anything that everyone doesn't already know.
  18. You said he's "capable", though. "Capable" covers a lot of ground, of course.
  19. You obviously missed the part where I said it's a simplification.
  20. He has a 2.3 fWAR in 286 MLB innings. That's below average. What exactly in his numbers or his makeup do you like?
  21. Bloom seems to be doing just fine as a farm-builder.
  22. You're veering off-line already. It's an indisputable fact that pitching is better in the postseason, and the explanation is simple: off days allow teams to stay away from their back end pitchers. They can't do that in the regular season.
  23. Here's a start. https://blogs.fangraphs.com/a-quick-review-of-how-playoff-offense-has-worked/
  24. Blackburn is not very good. The A's moved him from their rotation to the pen.
  25. None of this can be proved. None of this can be disproved. It just comes down to what you believe is possible, really.
