  1. In his last 37 PAs Dalbec has 1 hit and 24 Ks. Bad ratio.
  2. Man did you ever climb on board the O'Neill Express...
  3. You'd probably have to go back to late 2012 to find a Sox lineup as bad as this.
  4. Not until all hope was extinguished.
  5. Brez doesn't need to justify the acquisition, but he does need to justify the disposition, of a contract with close to 70 mill left on it, methinks...
  6. No, but 1B and DH are already locked up. Hope Yoshida gets hot and trade him?
  7. Wins cause less suffering than losses.
  8. I hate the Yankees as a thing, but they're kicking ass so far without Cole. The trade for Soto was huge.
  9. I'm not writing off Breslow either. And I still have some hope in JH. The extensions are a good sign. But man, they still have a lot of work to do. What a mess.
  10. Either that or he's just biding his time until the end of the year and his contract. He tried to speak up about the need for upgrades and he saw how it went. Not much you can do. Just keep cashing those paychecks and looking after your family.
  11. Zero, that much you can book. He's on the IL.
  12. That may be so but guys like Hamilton, Reyes and Valdez just aren't MLB caliber players.
  13. At least Cora doesn't have to pay to watch the crapshow - they pay him.
  14. And that was a Benny Brainstorm as I recall.
  15. If another team would take his whole contract? Afraid I'd have to, yes.
  16. I might also go on the IL (Indifferent List). Previously called the DL (Disinterested List).
  17. Devers is in the first year of a 10 year extension paying him $313.5 million. Who's going to take that on for us, especially with him missing games with nagging shoulder pain?
  18. I hear there was a chorus of boos from the fans still there at the end. Still, it was a Fenway Experience, right?
  19. The simplest thing is just to blame the front office for royally screwing the pooch since 2019. Failure to keep Betts, hiring Bloom, cutting payroll...they created a fustercluck. Bloom's signings of Story and Yoshida have turned out ugly and that's a big part of it. Who knows when we'll ever get out of this? Breslow is off to a snakebit start with Giolito gone for the year, Story gone, Grissom out to start the year, Campbell getting lit up and going on IL. The beat goes on.
  20. I remember some of the Swihart thing now. My recollection is that they still had some hope in the guy's game, but he had no shot at catching anymore with Vazquez and Leon manning the position. So they were trying him as a utility guy. I vaguely remember Dombrowski talking about it, but I don't have the energy to dig up stories on it. Plus they won 108 games in 2018 so I don't think it was much of an issue.
  21. David Hamilton's SoxProspects page seems to as much as say he's not suited to be an MLB shortstop, but we're in a position of running him out there anyway, because there are no great alternatives. Other than, apparently, our rookie outfielder who is struggling to make contact at the plate and also has an unusually high number of 3 errors in the outfield so far.
  22. Anyway, as it pertains to the 2024 season, I'm not sure what Cora is supposed to do to solve the defensive issues when we quite simply have no good defensive infielders, and I'm not sure what part he played in bringing us to that position.
  23. I didn't even remember Swihart in LF. I don't think it was that big of a deal. It's certainly fair to question Cora on some of those usages, but Bloom had a big role in the shenanigans. He could have nipped the Kike thing in the bud by getting an actual shortstop.
  24. You're saying the defensive questions started in 2018-2019? Also, the Red Sox front office is chock full of people who have been there a while. The CBO seems to be the fungible one.
  25. I know. And usually these seem like great moves. It's possible this one was a bit premature because of the questions about his offense. And they already know what it's like to have a great CFer who can't hit.
