  1. They're going to need a whole new unit to address the fielding.
  2. Yes, I think he is mostly working with what they give him. Hence his comments about "The roster is what it is" and his comments about how the fans wanted a team that plays into October, not a great farm system. Yes, I think he's frustrated. If that makes me "operating on an agenda", I'm good with it.
  3. Again, the word I used is say. Input is your word.
  4. 'Twas merely a jest.
  5. Cora was obviously frustrated with the roster he was given last year and expressed it more than once. "The roster is what it is." Sure sounded like a guy who thought his needs weren't being met. I suspect he feels the same right now.
  6. If I was Breslow I'd be focused on investing my pay from the Sox well as long as it lasts.
  7. You're missing the point. What say does he have is the question.
  8. It might also be worth noting that Rafaela already has 3 errors in the outfield. If his defense is a work in progress there, it might not be best to move him to an even harder position. Plus the guy is also struggling with the bat. He's got a lot going on as it is.
  9. https://nesn.com/2024/04/could-red-sox-move-ceddanne-rafaela-to-shortstop-craig-breslow-weighs-in/
  10. OK, well, "input" is a pretty broad term. I'm sure he gets to voice some opinions. But when you have no control over the budget or how it's allocated, I'm not sure it counts for much. Every manager in MLB would like to have better players, obviously. Having an opinion doesn't mean much when you don't have a say.
  11. The only fun for a lot of us this year will be Yankee losses and Dodger losses.
  12. The question was about if you are Breslow.
  13. Correction - if the Sox finish last this year it'll be 7 times in 13 years - 53.8%.
  14. Cora fan here, so my comments must be viewed accordingly, but AFAIK he doesn't have much say in the budget or roster construction, and even if he knows the team stinks it's not really his job to say so. His only job is get as much as possible out of what he's been handed. A lot of that might be applied to Breslow at this point, too, if he's been handcuffed by Henry's budget.
  15. Of course you're not ignorant. But I've tried to explain that the unhappiness isn't just about the 3 game sweep, it's about the fact that just about everyone who follows baseball thinks we're going to be under .500 again, for good reasons, like the fact our lineup and defense is full of what you would call jabronis. The 'be happy' stuff gets old fast.
  16. Ignorance is bliss, as they say.
  17. And we're likely to see more of the same. The scrubs we're putting out there in the middle infield aren't going to instantly get better. They're just not very good. And the team has done nothing to address the situation. It's already reminiscent of last year's antics with Kike.
  18. We're projected by the oddsmakers to win less than 80 games. For good reason. It's not like we're complaining about a good team that's in a little slump. We're pissed at the effort that went into putting together a Boston Red Sox team that's going to be under .500 for the third year in a row and 7th time in 13 seasons. If you want to be happy about the situation, be happy. But not everyone feels the same way.
  19. Often not necessary.
  20. More well reasoned takes.
  21. And I trust Cora's acumen over yours, so I guess we're even.
  22. It's a continuation of the same roster head-scratching we've been seeing in recent years. There are obvious needs that just don't get filled.
  23. Is there any such thing as a middle reliever any more? With starters usually only going 5, you need to cover the 6th to the 9th with an ever changing cast, so they're all going to get high leverage spots.
  24. First you have to show why that's a valid strategy. It's all based on the lesser guy getting the job done in the 9th. The same lesser guy you're afraid of for the 10th. The only solution is having an endless string of good relievers...
  25. And early or late.
